The grease filter fits under the unit but the charcoal filter is a different size. On my old E wave microwave the charcoal filter fit behind the vent at the top front of the unit. I can't see how to remove the vent on this Sunbeam microwave and I don't want to break it. The microwave came with the filter but no instructions on how to insert it.

I have the same problem with the same microwave. There is really only one solution, but I am worried just as above to discover the solution. It has to fit in the smaller vented area either with some slot I don't see or by removing the front vent. Does anyone have a clue how to do this? To everyone who thinks the solution may be the first one posted...impossible. The filter is 1/3rd the size of the wire mesh screen. It would not do it's job at all in this case. Generally, they are right, but not here.

I can't find the location for the charcoal filter on one I am in the process if installing right now. It does not replace the regular filter due to the size difference and there is no way it goes in the bottom area. Give me the good old days when they were proud of their product and included a phone number for problem installations.

Took me a couple minutes, but....

on the top/front edge, there is 3 screws - remove them. now slide the front grill to the left about a 1/4".

put the filter in the center opening. it will plop into place and just lay there. I put the metal grill side out.

Generally the charcoal filter mounts above or in place of the metal screen covering the air intake on the bottom of the unit.

I have a Goldstar mv1610ww that is currently set up for external/ducted venting. How do I switch it to ductless/recirculated venting? What additional parts do I need? It currently has the perforated v

That information is in your installation manual that came with the oven.

If for some reason you don't still have that, then you can order it or see a video at LG's site.

The LG product support page for your model is here.

If you'll scroll down to the middle video, they show you how to install it.

That will help you when you uninstall the oven so you can swap the vent fan assembly around.

I would bet you'd also need to order a charcoal filter.

The service manuals is here, but it does not contain part numbers.

You can get LG part numbers and order parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

How much rock salt goes into the sunbeam slush magic?

U need to use more than what the sunbeam book says. I put in about a FULL cup full, layering it between handfulls of regular ice purchased from a bottle shop. Rock salt isnt cheap though , but try to get bulk rock salt from aldi's or somewhere.

You need to get it looked at professionally. Faulty microwaves are not really the thing that you should be repairing at home. They can be lethal. Find a local repair shop and get a quote for repair.

Door not opening

What usually breaks is the door open lever.

On a counter top model, the outer cover will need to be removed to diagnose and repair this. On an over-the-range model, only the control panel needs to be removed.

Please unplug the oven first.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have critical safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

Once it is apart, you'll be able to see how the door open button would press against the door open lever, which would then lift up against the door latch heads (hook-like projections on the door) and the door should open.

To order parts, refer to the Sunbeam number in your manual.
