Toshiba 50HDX82 TV Volume Problem???

This evening we started experiencing a problem with the volume control on our Toshiba 50HDX82 RPTV. To be more specific, when we release one of the remote control volume buttons the volume continues to go in that direction and will only stop when it reaches it's maximun or minimum level or when we push one of the volume buttons again. For instance if we push the volume up button in order to increase the volume, the volume will continue to rise after we let off of the button and we can only stop it by pushing the volume down button. It's extremely difficult to adjust the volume properly this way. It's really annoying.

We have 2 different remotes that will adjust the tv volume and both remotes cause the same thing to happen.

However, if you adjust the volume via the volume buttons on the front of the tv the volume function works perfectly.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem.

Thank you for your help.

    Thank you for your reply.

I had read earlier that flourescent lights could cause these type of problems, at the time I couldn't think of any flourescent lights that we were using. However there was one in the kitchen that I forgot about, I unpluged it and everything is working great now.

    Thank you.

My Toshiba tv goes to max volume every couple of minuets by itself

Do you have something new in the room that emitts IR signals?
You need to isolate the TV from a possibly rogue IR signal.
Try turning everything off in the room, unplug everything except the TV and Cable box if you are using one.
Turn off all the lights and turn the TV on and select a channel.
Is everything working, is the volume OK?
If you are still experiencing volume issues then this is TV problem and you will need to see a service centre or repair shop.
But if the sound is OK, then you can now start turning things on one at a time to see which device is causing your issue.
It could even be a light that is flickering at just the right frequency to cause your issue.
If it is a CFC or LED light, try a different manufacturer

Little sound even on highest volume. Will firmware update solve this?

The firmware update will not solve this proble. You have to get into its "service menu", and change the status of sub-volume to a liitle bit. It is a skilled job, and should be done by any experienced service technician. There are so many adjustments, which cannot be done without proper knoledge about it. When adjusting these settings, the service technican should be fully aware of what he is doing, and going to do. These adjustments are not customer related, and cannot be accessed. OK.

There is a faint buzzing sound coming from the 50HDX82 TV. If I turn up the volume of the TV, then one does not hear it, but if you do the '1/2' mute, you hear it a lot, if you mute it completely, you do...

I know this will sound stupid but try it, unplug just power cord, leave it unplugged for 2 hours then plug it back in. This will reset it to factory setting and if this issue was caused by a power issue it will fix it.

My Sony Trinitron volume goes from mute (1 bar) to loud (2 bars) - can increase to even louder but can't get low or medium volumes. The lowest volume is too loud for normal viewing. Any ideas about what I...

If you have some idea about the working of your TV, and some service experience you can do it by yourself. Your TV has electronic volume controls. That means, a gradual voltage rise or lower does the volume to go up or down. This voltage variation is done by an Ic which we call it as "System Control Ic", that every modern TV has; but differ in their type and number. You must know how to follow the schematic diagram of your tv to get the exact point from which the voltage orginates, and which point regulates the same.
At present there is some voltage, say 0.23VDC or so, remains at that control point even if you turned all the visual controls seem to be off; and that voltage suddenly goes up; say 3.05VDC or so when you adjust the volume to the near mid stage. Further saying 3.05VDC must come only after you have turned the volume bar to extreme high. Now you are listning your tv at is 1/4th volume at extreme low I thinks.
Looking for fault at system contol section must be done with patience, and should have schematic diagram of it, and some sort of skill. It is best for you to get service of an experienced service personal, otherwise the the faults will be rise in numbers. All sony tv has complex schematics even go to pages on a book, and have some difficut to follow even an experienced one you know. So think a little better and do the needy.
If you have confidence that you can reach the the above said points, contact me at my mail address which is given below. I will guide you. You must have the schematic digram of your tv also beside you. Ok.

Volume is very low

Use the satellite receiver remote control to adjust the volume first. The receiver itself offers volume control and you probably have that turned down. Then you are trying to raise it with the volume control on the TV. This is raising the TV volume, but there isn't much sound there in the first place. Use the receiver remote, and you will probably see a volume bar. At some point it might say something like "best stereo" or a star might appear. If that happens leave the volume set there, otherwise just raise it all the way. Then control the volume with the TV remote, or program the DirecTV remote for your brand of TV, and the volume button should control the TV then.

Telivision volume

sounds like a sticking tact switch. an engieer would isolate the sub-panel that contains the volume and the manual programme up/down switches and then operate the TV using the remote control and see if this eliminates the problem
