Force it to shut down by holding in the power button until the system turns off. Then turn it back on and it will be unlocked and you will be able to log in.

Please rate, Thank you!

We lost the password to a computer that we purchased at Best Buy. We took it to the Geek Squad at the store and they were able to unlock the computer and reset the password. I think it costs $30. Good luck.

I recently purchased a Toshiba L645 with windows home premium 64 bit OS. I want to restore it to factory settings so I can get rid of the previous owners name, files, etc... I made the recovery discs for...

For a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, you would need a disk for the specific operating system. In other words, you would need to go to Best Buy or what not to purchase an Operating System. Recovery disks are only used by Windows in the event of a catastrophic failure, with a pre-existing OS.

I hope this helps!

Need to replace sound card for Sony vgn-t350p

It's true that with a laptop, replacing some parts means replacing the motherboard as they are integrated parts, this applies with the sound card. If your laptop is under warranty then you should be able to get it fixed, otherwise you need to weight the cost of replacing the motherboard verses buying a new computer. Seeing as how the motherboard in a laptop is pretty much half the computer, it may be cheaper to buy a new one.

Just purchased a new laptop from Best Buy!!!

There are two ways of getting on line outside your home. 1- you can use the built in wireless card at any location that has free wifi, ie... Macdonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, shopping malls, coffee shops, hotel/motel, etc... all of these offer free wifi. The upside is that it's free, the downside is you have to find a place with free wifi. 2- you can go through your cellular provider, ie... AT&T, Cingular, Sprint, US Cellular, whoever you have and get an airtime wireless card. The cards are around $150, then you will have a monthly charge of around $60. This will allow you to connect anywhere, anytime, as long as you have a signal.

Power down

I know the original post is over 2 years old but I had the same problem. Here's what happened:

8 months after buying my Toshiba A135 the battery began charging only intermittently. It also would not run without the battery. I put up with it for a month then took it back to Best Buy to get it repaired under warranty. They kept it over 2 weeks then gave it back saying it was the battery, which they replaced. One week later I had the same problem again. Back to Best Buy. The guy at the counter said it was probably the battery, they had encountered a lot of that. I said no, explained it, and gave it over to be fixed. 2 weeks later I got it back. They had reset the BIOS, no hardware replacement. I got it home and it was not fixed. I took it back the next day. They kept it 2 more weeks. They replaced the motherboard. I took it home and...you guessed it the same problem on the day I got it home!!! I took it back with one week left on my warranty. I don't remember what they replaced the last time but I think it was the motherboard again. I got it home (2 weeks later) and THE SAME PROBLEM on the day I got it home. So, the lesson there is that Best Buy computer maintenance SUCKS!!

I called Toshiba to try to get them to fix it for free, and out of warranty. After several frustrating minutes of conversation with an accented person who just kept telling me that my warranty was up, I hung up and called back and got an English speaking person. SHE was very helpful, listened to my problem, agreed to give me a one-time fix ticket. They paid for the postage. When I got my computer back it was mostly fixed.

The problem was the module at the back of the computer where the power cord plugs in. It was defective. They replaced it and it worked fine after that, except that when it goes into sleep mode it will not wake up. I fixed that by turning off all the sleep mode options. BTW, a friend of mine with the same computer is now having the same problem.

Toshiba Satellite 1005-S157

the only thing you can do is buy and load a new copy of windows xp Home .

this will install and overwrite any and all files passwords & etc so you can format and use this computer if its factory operating system was xp home this is what you need to buy to unlock this computer but make sure you purchase a full version not an upgrade version of XP HOME
