Question about Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 for PC

2 Answers

Where do I go to get a operating manuel for my Gateway XP 2005 Personal Computer? I cannot figure out how to save e-mail pictures to a DVD. If I can paly a DVD and listen to a CD, why can I not save to pictures to a DVD. I need to clear up my e-mail box. However, I cannot print all the beautiful pictures I have. This is why I need an operating manuel. I cannot figure out how to use the burning system. I cannot find the instruction to do that nor anything else my computer is capable of performing. Please help. jcauntie1@cox.net

Windows native CD-burning program for data CD's will not allow creation of a data DVD. If you purchased blank CD's, however, you could burn the files to a CD. If you want to burn them to an actual DVD: I know that everyone wants to get everything for free, but there are no free data-DVD burning programs, that I know of, that are trustworthy. It is well worth it, in my opinion, to purchase Nero, Easy DVD Creator, or Roxio outright to do the job.

As far as getting the manual for your Gateway, look on the PC (often there is a sticker on the side of the tower) and find your exact model #. Once you have that exact model #, go to Gateway's website (link below), and enter your model # to get the user manual. Unless your particular Gateway already came with DVD burning software, the computer's manual may or may not be helpful:

If you are sure that the Email attachment is from a reliable source and then content is potentially safe you can try to download the images to your computer and save it in a folder.

After you have saved the pictures, open the folder containing those picture files and try to open it with Internet explorer.

If it is not ready to open with Internet explorer then you should not try to open it with any other program. There are chances that either the file is corrupted or it contains a Virus or other harmful stuffs.

Gateway 4024GZ/How do I reinstall operating system w/out disks?

Ok this is not as hard as one may think. Get a copy of whatever software you want from the net. Either Burn to a DVD & use an external USB, DVD, and install as usual. Or put it on a memory stick and use that. You will, if your machine is disabled, have to use a third parties machine to do all of that. There are a number of tutorials on the net of how to make and boot and install from a USB Flash Drive.

Check that you have no malware or viruses present on your computer. Scan with a good anti-virus programme.

I need to get pictures sent to my email transferred to my desk top so i can access them individually on desk top i have windows xp program I need to do this so I can put pictures on craigslist thanks.

When you open your e-mail, the pictures are either embeded in the body of the e-mail or as an attachment. Either way, you should be able to right click the picture or the attachment and select save as. Then navigate to your desktop and click save. You can also open the attachment and save the file from within the program that it opens in.

Have problem with windows Xp pro.

You can get the correct drivers from the Gateway website. Use another computer and download all the Windows XP files for that model number from the website. You need your model number of your pc. Get the files for your motherboard, video, sound card, network card, etc. save them to a usb key or a burn them to a cd. Take the usb key/cd to the other system and load the drivers.

This will get your system back up and running in now time.

I hope this helps you.

I need a restore disk for gateway computer

From Gateway website:

Q: What if my Gateway System Recovery CD/DVD is lost, missing or damaged? A:
  • For computers shipped after November 1, 2004 and until January 2005, a patch needs to be installed. Download the patch through our FTP site at ftp://esupport:vImvF88@ftp.gateway.com/pub/hardware_support/drivers/apps/medialess/Create_DRV_APPS_CD_Update.exe. After the installation of this patch, the option to create the drivers and applications CD is available from the Start menu under Programs. However the operating system (OS) CD\DVD must be requested by e-mailing customer service.
Note: Replacement of the operating system CD may be at a cost according to your warranty status.

  • For computers shipped between January 2005 and June 2005, the option to Create my Drivers-Applications CD(s) is already available under Programs. The operating system CD\DVD must be requested by e-mailing customer service, and may be at a cost according to your warranty status.
  • For computers shipped after June 2005, an operating system CD\DVD is included and the option to Create my Drivers-Applications CD(s) is in System Recovery. Access the program from the Start menu under Programs. This backup process through System Recovery allows you to create the applications and drivers CD\DVD as many times as needed. If the operating system CD\DVD is lost, missing, or damaged, e-mail customer service to inquire about a replacement. Please note that replacement may be at a cost according to your warranty status. If all CD\DVD's are needed, e-mail customer service to inquire about a replacement. Please note that replacement may be at a cost according to your warranty status.
Send them an email with model number from tag at the back of the computer and ask for recovery CD.
