Question about Amana ARSE66MB Side by Side Refrigerator

Refrigerator part not cooling, freezer is fine Amana TXI18JW (top freezer model) I noticed in the last week or so that my refrigerator was slowly starting to warm up, so I started to turn the dial up on the frig control part to colder, but the temperature continues to rise (higher), and it is now at 54 degrees. Fan on back is running and works well, just replaced a few months ago, also replaced defrost timer a few months ago in front of frig bottom, compressor feels warm-hot and working. Freezer is ok, and I can hear and feel fan blowing cool air into freezer, but nothing really going into the refrigerator, cannot really feel any air ciruclating in frig compartment. Can anyone help me, our food is going bad and it is 6:34 PM at night. Thanks...Russell

I just spent 3 hours on live chat, and it was a total waste, and they did not even mention a blockage. How do I do this, take off the back panel of the freezer? The "expert" I had in the chat did not even have a manual.

Lenwest, you actually seem to be an expert, but the person I paid for was not a frig technician for premium live chat was not, and could hardly speak English, but had as their picture a photo of Einstein. Rylee_Smith she/he said the refrigerator could have wire junction connector causing problems, then was for sure it was the thermostat, then again said it might be the thermostat heaters. Then asked me to unplug frig and post back in 1-2 days, then when I reminded Rylee about already telling he/she that I just changed the setting from energy saver (and my owner manual says that defrost heaters are then turned off), I changed it to setting Reduces Exterior Cabinet Mositure, Rylee then says turn off Freezer and let sit for 5-6 hours but leave frig plugged in at main source. I asked Rylee about changing thermostat, and how much and how easyt, and Rylee couldn't answer. I finally eneded session in frustration.

Sorry you didn't get the help you needed.

All I do is give free advise hoping to help someone out.

Did you defrost the fridge completely? Sometimes moister will build up and freeze in that vent.

You need to unplug the whole unit.

Also if you can move everything out unplug it, turn it off with doors open 6 to12 hrs. this will free up any clogged tubes and vents. Good luck.

You could also try defrosting the unit completely.

Cooling problem with a ge top freezer refrigerator

I have one that did the same. The coil in the back of the freezer was frosting up because it wasn't defrosting like it was supposed to. I noticed that the thermostat looked damaged so I ordered a new one from sears parts direct which by the way will show a diagram of the model you have. I just installed it last night so I will post how it comes out. This morning the freezer has a burnt smell but I am hoping its from the defrost not working for a while!
