Question about Altec Lansing ACS 45.1 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

My Altec Lansing speakers just won't register with my computer all of a sudden. If I open a music file in Media Player it tells me there is a problem with my sound device or it's not connected. When I know it is. I think I need to re install it but I don't have any software for it anymore

You need new drivers for your audio devise but without knowing what motherboard you are using i can not find out what audio device it has.
omega just make cases for pc's. not components.
take the side off your pc and have a look for a name on the big circuit board you will see everything attached too, like: ASUS or ASRock or Abit and some numbers and letters. i will see if i can figure it out for you.

IM600 Compatibility: iPod mini; iPod classic 3G, 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G; iPod touch 1G, 2G; auxiliary input connects to any CD, DVD, or MP3 player using a stereo mini-plug. If you have a mini-plug port on the IPhone which I believe you have; then attach a male to male plug in between the two devices. Take to Radio Shack for correct line plug.

Speakers will not "turn on",

Hi. You might want to try a different set of speakers or try the Altec Lansing on a different computer to isolate the issue. This can tell you if the problem is with the computer's sound card or your speakers. If the speakers won't work with any PC, try checking if the wires are all good and/ or soldered properly. Be cautious while doing this. make sure the speakers are not plugged in to any power source. I hope this helps. :-)

My altec lansing vs4121 speaker have to much bass with several mp3 files, waht ca i do

If it's only certain MP3 files you might want to identify WHY those files have too much bass. THAT would have happened when they were created. It's not a speaker's fault how the music sounds. Then there's your PC or whatever other device it passes through. Lots of opportunities for MALadjusted sound. GIGO.

Only one speaker works - altec lansing computer speakers ADA215

The solution is actually quite simple, due to a design flaw. Altec lansing designed a rather cheap mini din plug-in which can either be replaced or repaired depending on your skill and patience level. Your ground contact is fine BUT the positive contact is not making connection due to the fact that the plastic housing has broken away and pulled the contact with it. This can be super glued back into place or just replaced with a new mono minidin plug-in.

My altec lansing VS 2421 speakers don't have sound anymore

Plug in ONLY the regular wired speakers and ONLY to the green port on the back.

Make sure they are powered up and the volume is about half way.
OK now you need to call up ether the sound card application or preferably the windows volume control from the bottom tool-bar.

Click Open Volume Control.

A box with sliders in should appear. make sure that volume control, wave, sw synth, aux, cd player, line in
are all about half way and that none of them have ticks in the box at the bottom.

If any of those are missing click options then properties from the top left and put a tick besides any that were missing (nothing else)

Now close the slider box.

Put a normal music CD in your CD/DVD player on the computer and set it to play with windows media player.

You should now have sound out of the speakers.

Double check again and make sure it all works.

If you still have any problems check your hardware list and make sure thee are no exclamation marks by any sound hardware (excl. speakers)

These need to be sorted out first. for that you need to know what your sound card is and download the drivers (or update them)

Altec Lansing Altec AVS 500

If you are using windows media player check if your player is configured to have an echo. If it is configured remove it. If it is not configured to have an echo and if you are using any soundcard have that sound card check by an expert or by your vendor and let them check it out if it is still under warranty.
