As long as your machine is not skipping stitches the timing should be fine. Three things to check: take your thread tension assembly apart so you can remove the discs and clean. Debris often gets between them and causes irregular tension. Next check the point of the looper to see if has a burr. If so take 600 sandpaper or crocus cloth and remove. Last-Check the upright pin that the looper passes--it too may have a burr.
No luck findong your but Go to www.reliablecorporation.com. Under products check out the MSK555 blindhem machine. It is the same as the Rex 518. To the right of the page is a category to download the manual. It is very helpful.
I know this is a VERY late answer, but I hope it can help others. The direct wholesale importer for the REX RX518 blindstitch hemmer (and the same company who is possibly involved in its manufacture) is Artek Sewing Machine Supply in Brooklyn, NY (800-221-9440).
Artek seems to be the only company with whom to speak about this machine. They sell and "service" the RX518 (which may mean throwing them away and giving out another if they feel like it)! It is a company that does business as both "REX" and "Artek." This is not as good as dealing with Viking, Bernina, etc. for sure, but at least it's something!!

It is very helpful. I have the Rex518 with the original instructional manual, but the translation into English was very poor. The MSK555 is published so you can understand the manual, and figure out how to use your machine. I too am a first time user of a blind hemming machine.
