Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

WindowsXPhomeedition.Taskmanager unaccesable in admin account too

Hi, I'm using Windows XP home edition on a P3 compaq presario. I'm unable to use Takmanager. In any way brought up, its grayed out. also i cant find the "folder options" folder anymore, nor in the explorer or control panel. this makes managing of hidden files really comlicated cause have to do it now without the option of "show hidden files".
Thinking it might be a administration problem arising from user accounts althugh it did show all of them to be administrators. Still i deleted all except the one windows wont let me do so making the only user account on Windows xp the one i'm using as administrator by default(correct me if i'm wrong anywhere above or would like to know more info, still whatever u think is the fault ,send it through) Pls can someone help me out with this prob of mine.. Thank You
Sunny

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How do I logon as administer

Hi,

The built-in Administrator account is hidden from Welcome Screen when a user account with Administrator privileges exists and enabled. In Windows XP Home Edition, you can login as built-in Administrator in Safe Mode only. For XP Professional, press CTRL + ALT + DEL twice at the Welcome Screen and input your Administrator password in the classic logon window that appears.
To have the Administrator account displayed in the Welcome Screen, try one of these methods:
Method 1: Using TweakUI Power Toy for Windows XP Download TweakUI from here: v2.00 for Windows XP | v2.10 for XP SP1 and above
Open TweakUI and click "Logon" option in the left pane. Put a checkmark against the option "Show Administrator on Welcome Screen". Click OK to close TweakUI. Logoff and see if Welcome Screen lists Administrator login. Changes are immediate and you can use the Winkey + L to switch back to Welcome Screen to see Administrator account is listed.
Use this procedure to hide/unhide any user account from the Welcome Screen. Please remember, you can still login to a hidden account using CTRL+ALT+DEL classic logon method, but cannot Fast User Switch to a hidden user account.
Method 2 - Manual registry edit
  • Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
  • Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ SpecialAccounts \ UserList
  • Use the File, Export option to backup the key
  • Create a new DWORD Value named Administrator
  • Double-click Administrator, and set 1 as its data
  • Exit the Registry Editor.
For Windows XP Home Edition While you can configure Windows XP Home Edition to show Administrator account in the Welcome Screen, you cannot login as Administrator in Normal mode. Visit the following link for more information:
Error Message: Unable to Log You on Because of an Account Restriction

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Can you help me to reset the admin password as we have lost the password for this pc this is windows xp home edition

Connect your hard disk as secondary to some other machine and back up your data. Then reinstall the Operating System. Resetting the Password is a wrong process for admin account and is not encouraged.

I forgad password the parental controls

Hi,
1. remove the parental controls by logging into admin account.if you are not able to do it normal mode go to safe mode by hitting the F8 key when the computer is booting. safe mode default admin account will be enabled so you can remove the parental controls from there.
2.if you ahve installed with any CD,get into add or remove programs and uninstall those.

Unable to update or sychronize with time.windows.com

you need admin\administrator rights to change anything on vista. it is suppose to be more secured than Windows XP.
administrator /user is power user rights, which don't have rights to change system setting, but you do have rights to install certain program.
login into the machine as administrator and provide the corect password.

Limited User access will not open files in software program

boot into safe mode on xp. when you start the computer and the bios screen comes up start tapping the F8 key. it should take you to the boot selection screen. press your arrow keys to get to the selection "Windows Safe Mode" and press enter. when xp loads the login screen, there should be an admin account now. use that account to set users access to admin rights.
if you dont want that user to have admin rights but still start software that requires admin rights, try this. right-click on the program. go to run as... and choose administrator.

please let me know if this helped you :)

Dell installed on compaq

Hi, you have to use the original CD installer for WinXP that came bundled with your Compaq Presario. Reinstalling with the use of that CD will overwrite all previous installtion (from Dell) and should correctly install the drivers as well. Should the CD be not available, you may want to try and call Microsoft Support and relay to them your problem. You may need copies of proof of purchase and other documents and/or the serial number for the WinXP normally printed on a sticker at the side, back (or underneath for a laptop) of the PC. Another way is to purchase a CD installer of WinXP SP2 and go thru the routine of installing it. Hiope this be of some help to you. Good luck.
