Can't remove screw on lamp cover panel on PT-43LC14. We have literally HUNDREDS of screwdrivers in the house...why won't any of them remove this one screw? It's like a Phillips but with a shallow slot. Phillips just seem to strip it and flats won't work eitehr. Trying to save $ by installing lamp ourselves....HELP!
Re: Can't remove screw on lamp cover panel PT-43LC14
Using a phillips head screw driver, you need to grip the unit with your left hand and then push really hard against the screw head before starting to turn the screw. They are very tight from the factory. Once it breaks loose and starts to unscrew, the rest is easy.

Check the fan. Once the
television is turned off, it is just normal for its fan to become louder.
A projection TV actually depends on its lamp, which requires cooling so
that it will not prematurely burn out. If the room where your TV is placed
is very hot, the fan would also continue to run.
Replace projection lamp. To properly do this,
make sure that the lamp's bulb has cooled down and the TV is unplugged.
Carefully remove the cover of the lamp's compartment using your screwdriver
(Phillips-head). Unscrew the sealed part of the lamp that can be found at the
television's rear part. Take away the old lamp cartridge and then insert a new
one. Seal the lamp with screws, replace its cover and then screw tightly.
Hi, To replace lamp in Panasonic PT-50LC13 tv, please follow this... 1- Place your fingertips under the front cover and pull it from the projection display. 2- Loosen the lamp cover screw using a screwdriver. 3- Using a screwdriver, loosen the lamp unit screw. 4- Grasp the lamp unit handle and slowly pull the lamp unit from the projection display. 5- Put new lamp and fix things in reverse order.
Now need to reset lamp timer as follows, While pressing the VOL Down button on the projection display, hold down the PIP or SPLIT button on the remote control simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. When lamp timer will reset, tv sill show "lamp time was reset to 0" message. Hope this info will help you. Thanks.
To reset the Lamp timer back to zero
simultaneously press the "down split channel" button on the bottom of the remote and the down volume on the TV for 5 seconds or more. You will get a message on the screen that the time has been reset to zero.
This model is notorious for needing a new lamp about every 2 years. The lamp is accessed through the front by removing the long plastic cover under the screen (it just pulls off). Under that, to the left of center, is a square cover with one grey plastic screw. Loosen the screw and pull the lamp assembly out. It should just slide right out. Turn it around and look at the lamp. If the lamp face or reflector looks "cloudy" or "misty". Replace the lamp with Philips part number TY-LA1000. Just Google the number and you will find them available for around $100
On the front, under the screen there is a large plastic cover. The far right side of the cover has the black decals "HDTV 1080i" and "VIVA bb3 sound" on it. There aren't any screws holding it on, just pressure snaps. Pull the sides of it off gently and the three or so foot long panel will come loose. You'll see a black plastic panel now with two doors, one in the middle and one on the left of the middle door. The one on the left has a white lamp warning label decal and a black screw holding it in place. Remove the screw and take off the door. Inside is the lamp housing. Some models have a a screw on the right side of the black plastic housing, holding it in place. Take out that screw and pull the housing directly out toward you. You now have the lamp housing. If you are replacing it with a new lamp and housing just push the new on into place and reassemble, you're all done. If you are replacing just the lamp, you have a little more disasembling to do. But its not hard. If you need further help, post a comment and I'll send pictures. Good Luck.
