Question about Amana 22.6 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator with FrontFill Ice and Water
I have an Amana side by side refrigerator-- model drs2660BW. It has just started making a buzzing sound in the last month-- it buzzes for a few seconds, then clicks off. This happens every 5 minutes or so. The water connection for the ice maker is not hooked up, and we have lifted the ice maker arm so it does not engage. Any idea what the problem might be?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

It sounds like the ice maker. If you don't have the water hooked up, and the ice sensor bar is in the down position, the ice maker assembly will attempt to make ice continuously.
Solution is easy: raise the ice sensor bar until it clicks in the up position. It will lock in this position, and the ice maker will not cycle anymore.

could be a relay failing, a long 2 -3 seconds hard electrical hum could be the compressor failing & the relay overload is doing it's job shutting down your overheating compressor, unplug it for 30 min plug it back in a slight hum & click off is most likely just a relay but a long hard electrical hum is bad news Compressor & if it has no warranty left on the compressor repair could run $500.00- $700.00.

I can help , It was the relay , they can blow when they experience a hard start , by replacing it and having the same issue this means the compressor is locked up , they sell a booster for this that can sometimes free the compressor up , its called an rco410 , this part will be your only chance to get your compressor going again. let me know if you have any other questions and tell me how it works out.

either the noise is coming form he ice maker fill valve( but if its of and still aking noise i doubt it. it also possible that the noise is coming from the compressor itself, overheating nad trying to restart in which case would give a slight "buzz" noise for 5secs or so then "click" off, and wait maybe 3 min to restart again. look for melted ice andperhaps your ice dream ont as hard as it should be???

sounds like a bad compressor relay. The compressor it self might be bad but 80% chance it is just the relay.
