I can't find the cd that I need to install to use the scanner

I purchased the printer one year ago. Since then, I can only find the Macintosh cd to make my scanner work. I guess I never installed that part before. Obviously my printer is recognized by my printer, but I'm told the scanner software isn't installed when I try to scan something. Is it possible to have one sent to me?

As far as I can tell, the printer part works with os 10.5.x, but not the scanner part on USB. Unfortunately, looks like downgrading to 10.4 will do it, or wait until (if) HP will upgrade the drivers. HP claims that version 9.7 works with 10.5, but the I cant get the scanner part to work. Some scanners only work on Fire Wire. My client has just mac minis which don't have the right fire wire port. If you guys have imacs or power macs, maybe try a fire wire cable, with these drivers from HPs site. If you do a google search for   HP_Installer_OJ7400_v9.7.dmg, (1/1 , 191.31M)  it will take you to HP to download it. Its the latest driver.
Good luck.

Need my scanner but i misplaced my cd installation cd.

Here's the link to the Lexmark website for the available Lexmark X2500 drivers. http://bit.ly/axy5n7. Click on the Microsoft or Macintosh dropdown found below the page to choose the version of your computer's operating system. Download and install the software. Then try to scan. If computer's going to look for the OCR, it can only be installed using the installation cd. If that's the case, I suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to request for that. They can send you one for free. Thanks.

My Epson perfection 3490 photo scanner doesn't work on leopard. It worked fine on tiger. Do I need to download new software? The CD that came with my scanner says it is for Mac 10.2 to 10.4.

I googled Epson support and found the answer. Here it is:
Macintosh Leopard Support Contact Supportrightmenudottedline.gif apple_leopard_logo.jpg
Welcome to Macintosh OS X 10.5 Leopard support for Epson products. Here you can find out how to get drivers and other Epson software for your Epson product that work with Macintosh OS X 10.5.
Check your Epson product CD to see if it already contains Macintosh OS X 10.5 drivers. If the CD indicates support for Macintosh OS X 10.5, follow the instructions that came with your Epson product to install your drivers and other software.

I purchased my Microtek ScanMaker 3800 many years ago. I still have the installation CD. Recently I purchased an HP laptop running Vista. My question: is it all right to plug in the scanner directly...

First connect your scanner to computer with usb cable.
Then insert disk in rom then install driver and software from disk.
It is not matter that first you connect scanner or install driver but if you connect scanner first your computer recognized it then you can install driver from disk.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

My 1236U scanner installer disc says its for Macintosh PC Windows 98 & is dated July 99. How can I run this scanner on a Macintosh OSX computer.

Try using it as a GENERAL scanner and not as 1236U as it is an ancient device and will not find drivers for the latest operating system. In a world where everything changes every two yrs, it is difficult to adjust a ten year old device.
