Ge washer model wjre5550h0ww start button does't work

After loading and setting the control dial, the lights on the panel light up as they are supposed to but when you press the start button nothing happens. So far if you press all around on the button it will finally start. Something is about to go bad. Which part may be causing this?

SOURCE: ge wssh300 front load washer starts final spin

Hi,

The spin problem could be a number of different things, one, the motor is bad, two your belt is bad, three the clutch is slipping, but as far as the suds goes how much detergent are you using and what kind? is the cold water coming in full force on rinse? if you have allot of suds this can make the machine not spin fast also.

The clutch is the most likely cause, these are not cheap, in fact it comes as the motor and clutch together on this.

If you are looking for a good reliable machine buy a top load direct drive whirlpool, no frills or bells and whistles and these run great for a long time and when they need repair these are inexpensive to fix. thats what i recomend.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Where to find reset button on a Whirlpool Washer

  1. Press the start button. If all the cycle lights illuminate, move on to the next step. If they don't light up, your machine hasn't reset properly and you will need to try another method.
  2. Press the start/stop button again.
  3. Rotate the dial until the "rinse", "wash" and "stop" buttons light up on the control panel.
  4. Turn the machine off and unplug it for 10 seconds.
  5. Run a test load without any clothes to check that everything is working normally.

My GE Front loading washer has a red lock light

On the GE GFWN1100LWW the Lock light indicates that the Child Lock (Panel Lock) is enabled. Press and hold the Lock touch pad for 3+ seconds. The light will go out. (Note: if you hold that button for too long, the lock will disengage and then reengage.)

The lock is useful to avoid having someone change the settings or start the washer when they shouldn't. (For example, you don't want to start or change the cycle settings on the washer while cleaning the control panel's surface.)

I hope this helps.

My Ge Top load washer will not power up start button?,no lights.

Their is a fuse in the harness red wire that runs down from the control to the motor on the hydrowave washer. Hydrowave washer manual
Of course if yours isn't a hydrowave maybe you oughta post a model number. GE has several different styles.

The control knob is stripped & I removed that; also found that the plastic part with teeth that the control knob operates is also stripped. Where can I find both parts and what is involved in...

Used to be that you could buy the ratcheting coupler piece for 5 or 10 bucks for the old GE machines. Alas, no more. The newer GE timer must be replaced if the teeth are stripped.

Be careful not to damage the indicator dial when doing this repair as it is about $20 for a round piece of plastic and a tiny steel clip. Pry this off using opposite points of the dial (grab it at the 9 o'clock and the three o'clock positions with as many fingers as possible) and pull gently so as not to set up any fractures in the dial's hub.

Unplug machine, remove knobs, end panels. Remove remaining screws that hold the control panel and tilt forward. Removing the fascia will reveal the screws that hold the timer on.

Sears PartsDirect wants about $80 for the timer.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

A red padlock symbol is showing on the panel of my WCVH6800 front load washer. I can't change any of the wash settings. How do I fix this?

Here's what the Padlock represents:

Lock Function

You can lock the controls to prevent any selections from being made. Or you can lock the controls after you have started a cycle. children cannot accidentally start the washer by touching pads with this option selected.

To lock the washer, press and hold the DELAY START button for 3 seconds (on some models use SIGNAL button). To unlock the washer controls, press and hold the DELAY START button for 3 seconds. The control lock icon on the display will light up when it is on.

NOTE: The POWER button can still be used when the machine is locked.

GE Washer WSSH300GWW front loader washer CONTROL LOCK!!

Solution: Hold down the power and delay start button at the same time. In about 3-4 seconds a beep will occur and the red key lock will turn off. I think it is a problem in the machines firmware. I just guessed at what combination of buttons the engineers used to do a firmware reset. In any case it worked for me.
