Question about Samsung PS42D5S 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television
Hi, I was watching it when it suddenly switched off. Then switched back on in 5 sec time. Everything is working (sound, on/off, chanells, etc) but there is no picture, just a black screen. Also, it was producing some trembling noise at the beginning. I turned it off overnight then the noise disapperaed.
Does anyone know where i could get a LVDs cable for a samsung 42 inch tv searched everywhere and cant find one the model number is PS42D5s thanks in advance

SOURCE: blackout problems
It could be the LVDS cable that is connected between the logic main board and the main board, sometimes this cable is too short and comes loose from one of the boards, it could also be a sign that the logic main is going out or the panel itself is shorting out

SOURCE: black out on screen
I also have the same problem. I lost the bottom half of my screen
(mostly black) with some serious pixelation going on on the left side.
Reading from this site, it seems that a lot of people are having the
same trouble. My warranty ran out a month ago. I called Samsung, and
they did supply me with an extended 90 day warranty!!!!! Thankfully or
else we were out a lot of money and probably couldn't get it fixed. If
you have to pay, you are probably looking at a $1000 + to fix it. At
least Samsung was gracious enough to extend my warranty. It gets
picked up today for repairs. I hope they take care of everyone on here
too. Good luck

Sounds like main board failure and or power board failure. You need to contact manufacturer and describe problem for tech support. Some of the parts in Samsung TVs have lifetime warranties. Change out of two board is about an hour job and service call is usually comped. Hope this helps. J
