ok i understand what u mean, but when i plug in the player to the computer, notin shows up on the computer?? I have a lot of songs on limewire that i want to put on but with the mp4 missil only came one disk and it says i don't have to load it if i have higer than windows2000, which i do so i'm not sure how it is suppose to load with out software?? i think it might have been a waste of money

I find it very strange that an operating manual describes how to play the unit, before mentioning how to load the mp3's onto the unit. Generally, items of this nature simply ask to insert a disk which automatically start loading the necessary software to run the player simply by putting the disk into the computer...not this item though. Furthermore, the instruction manual alludes to converting AMV files first before mentioning how to load mp3's onto the player which to me is a red flag that the instructions were never provided.

These made in China MP4 players are quite budget ... however, I've managed to get mine working just fine. Just follow these steps:

1. Charge the unit. (These things come with a dead power supply, so you'll have to to charge it with the provided USB cable... or any cable such as one that works with a camera. you'll not be able to load it or turn it on until this has been done. 3 hours later your computer will detect new hardware (USB mass storage device) and install the appropriate drivers.

2. Loading MP3's... there are 2 ways to go about this...

a) If you have the latest Windows media player click on the SYNC tab and follow the directions.

b) Open "My Computer" you should be able to see a new drive (probably E: F: or G:) double click to expand it, you should see a bunch of folders, simply drag and drop your MP3s to the Music folder.

3. Converting and Loading Video: The included program that comes with these cheap-*** players is a bag of $#@! so dont even bother with it.

The best program to convert videos to work on this thing can be found HERE

-Pick the first one (note:this file is zipped so will need to extract it),
pick up a trial version of WinRar HERE

-Once extracted, go ahead and run the program...click ADD

Choose your input file, and output path,

You will need to know the resolution of your screen. Under Player type, choose SUNPLUS AVI and select the video resolution of your Missil, 30 frames/sec and the best sound/video quality and hit start.

- this process takes a while (30-60 min) depending on file size.

- Once complete, simply drag and drop (cut and paste) the converted file to to the VIDEO folder on the players drive.

3. Finally disconnect the player from the computer, it will say "please wait.. building playlist" once this is done you're good to go

I hope this has been helpful... and please... dont forget to rate this solution.

Hi There,                You must charge the device fully first by attaching it to your computer by your usb cable it came with for 4 hours. The unplug it and shut it off (your device). Once it off replug it into your usb  cable and to your computer again and the plug and play on your computer because it a higher window software should automatically identify the device. The all you do so drop and drag your music in the right folder in your device.

OK, this is a is the best explanation I can give
1 read manual carefully then install software
2 charge miss (missile)
3 unplug miss from computer (comp) and turn miss on - there should be folders showing up on miss (at least the music folder)
4 record all the folder names exactly as shown on the miss (use rt key to go through all the list)
5 power off miss and then connect to comp, then power up miss again
6 a new drive with folders (at least the music folder) should show up on comp
7 if the folders recorded carefully above don't exist on comp, then create them
---- I found I could at least copy music and pics (video after conversion) - and it worked
last response - good luck

With my Missil GL 15058 BK, just hit the play button and it starts to play. You have to do this shortly after it initializes, if you wait too long it shuts down.

Missil A940LCD2PK mp3 player turning off

I don't know if mine is a Missil brand, but the pix of the Missil A940LCD2PK look exactly like my no-name Chinese MP3 clip-on player. I am experiencing exactly the same problem. My firmware is 2208/06/12 V1.05. Everything else works as it should except, of course, music mode. The directory has "root" and a single "voice" folder for voice recordings. Is music mode looking for a folder? Is there some way to correct or upgrade firmware?
