Unlock a Disabled iPod
If you own an iPod Classic or iPod Nano, you can set a four-digit security code on your device and then lock it to keep other people from accessing it.
Disabling your iPod is a good way to protect the data on your device, but if you lose or forget the four-digit code, you will need to manually unlock it in order to access your music and other content.
Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC.

Open the iTunes application by using the dock icon on a Mac or the start menu on a PC.

Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" list in the main iTunes window.

Click on the "Sync" button to create a connection between the computer and the iPod.
Click on the eject symbol after the syncing process is complete, and then unplug your iPod from the computer.
The lock code has been reset; when you go to disable the iPod again, you will be prompted to choose a new four-digit code.

Or
Hard Reset a Disabled iPod Touch
A hard reset restores your iPod Touch to its original factory settings.
This is useful when your iPod Touch is disabled and won't turn on or off, but all your data is erased.
Luckily, you can restore your data with iTunes after you've performed the reset.
Once you've performed the reset, your iPod is wiped clean and iTunes prompts you to restore the settings from your last sync.

Plug the iPod into your computer and wait at least 10 minutes.
This allows the battery to recharge in case it has drained.
This could fix your disabled iPod, if the problem was caused by a dead battery.
Click "OK" if your computer opens a "Connect to iTunes" alert box.
Depending on your version of iTunes, the message may indicate the iPod is in "recovery mode" and you need to restore the device.
ITunes opens and resets your iPod for you.
Unplug the iPod from your computer if you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" alert box.
Make sure the iPod is charged before you attempt the hard reset.
Press and hold both the On/Off/Wake button and the Home button on your iPod.
Keep the buttons pressed.
Wait for the Apple logo to appear, it may take 10 seconds or longer.
When you see it, release the On/Off/Wake button but keep the Home button pressed.
Release the Home button when you see a picture of a USB cable with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.
Plug your iPod back into the computer.
The iTunes "recovery mode" message will appear.
Click "OK" to complete the reset.

I have a classic ipod 160 GB. everytime I try to restore it a message appears saying that itunes has discovered an ipod in recovery mode. It says I need to restore it and everytime I do this i get the same...

Ipods are usually put into recovery mode when you attempt to restore it. Download the latest software for your ipod and hit update, or restore, whichever appears. The process should be simple. Goodluck and I hope this helped. :)

I have a Apple iPod 80gb just got it from a friend and my daughter locked it... but they forgot the password they put on it... what do i do now?

You need to Restore it. Just plug it into the computer you sync it too(it must be that one), open up iTunes and select your iPod in the list to the left, then right under the big picture of your iPod you will see a button that says "Restore," click it. Restoring it will take about 10-15 minutes, but it will take the lock off.

Hope this helps!

My itouch is disabled how do i unlock it

Plug the iPod touch into the computer that it was last synced with.

Once iTunes recognizes the iPod you should be able to unlock it with your password.

If you do not remember your password or you still cannot unlock the iPod, then you should try to restore the iPod.

To restore the iPod:
1) Turn the iPod off.
2) Hold down the Home button and connect the iPod to the computer it was last synced with.
3) Continue to hold the Home button until the iTunes symbol appears on the iPod's screen. The iPod is now in recovery mode.
4) After iTunes has recognized that the iPod is in recovery mode, follow iTunes instructions and restore the iPod.

If restoring the iPod doesn't work, then you will need to call Apple customer support.

Screen loked

Hi

To unlock it you'll need to connect your ipod with the computer you last synced it to and from there open itunes. And, on the front screen of the ipod click on the restore button and your ipod will be restored. You'll now be able to use the ipod as normal, remember that it will delete the menu settings not the data from your ipod.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Ipod Classic - 80gb

Just restore it in itunes by going to the ipod's main menu after you plug it in to your computer and press the restore button. It should tell you to back up your information. Do that and click yes. It should be back to normal then.

Ipod classic 80 GB wouldnt allow me to load music.. now it wont appear in itunes either

My classic won't sync at all. When I plug it into a USB port a screen comes up on my ipod saying "connected" then within seconds it's replaced by another screen that says "ejecting"

It works fine on my son's PC and my wifes Mac. Just not on mine. I have disabled the firewall. Tried all the various USB ports. I know cable is fine cause it works on other computers. I have latest in ITunes and have service pak 2 with XP. So needless to say I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this. HELP!!!!
