I have a Nexxtech hard drive enclosure that I used to take the files off my last broken laptop hard-drive. I'm trying to put my most recent laptop hard-drive into the enclosure to get those files

You can get an USB hard drive adapter, it is cheaper than an USB enclosure.
The new hard drive maybe a SATA drive.

Please check if your jamper of the hardrive must be set to primary settings. Or possible your usb connector having lost contact problem.

Hope this will be helpful to you.

that hard drive may not be compatible with the new computer..the parameters may be wrong and wont allow it to use or trasnfer data from it onto the new computer.trying to interchange drives depends on compatibility issues and it sounds as though the one you are trying to use is simply not compatible to the new system

SOURCE: HARD DRIVE ENCLOSURE RECOGNITION BY MY PC PROBLEM

Had the same problem today. I finally noticed that the pin bay on the enclosure was large enough to allow the pins to be offset by one pin set. The open pins were hidden by wires. Once I carefully aligned the pins, everything worked fine.

SOURCE: Nexxtech 3.5" Hard Drive Enclosure (NHDE35)

I'm not saying this will solve all problems, but it solved it for me. I am running Vista and got this to work following someone's instructions from another forum.

The slot in the enclosure that you plug the hard drive into has one set of holes fewer than the hard drive has pins. This means you can plug the hard drive in two ways "left" and "right" if you will. I had to plug my hard drive in so that the unused pins were farthest from the power cable that plugs into the hard drive.

Incidentally this made the screw holes line up better, too.

My Nexxtech nhde35 ext. hard drive is suddenly not working. Now when I plug it in, the indicator light alternately blinks red/blue. The PC does not see the drive at all. Tried swapping to another hard...

Seems most likely that the drive enclosure has failed, since swapping to a different HD made no difference. If so enclosure will have to be repaired, or replaced.

External hard drive enclosure

Hi,
If you had given a password to windows vista on the the failed system. You would not be able to get into you files if they were saved in default folder like Documents >Pictures >music .
You need to use a data recovery sofware to do the job. A local tech would do the same for around 80$.

Thanks

3.5 hard drive enclosure

Try a different USB cable. Try a different computer. If those don't solve it, it a defective enclosure. I seem to have a handful of defective ones myself. ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"
