My Xereox XC1045 copier will only print half a page. If i turn the power off, it may print one full page, but then will show a jam and only print one half of a page and stop. I am wondering if it is a gear problem and if so, where can i get the gear and how hard is it to install? Thanks for your help.

Re: copy stops halfway through 1st page
Yeah more than likely that gear has broken. What I would suggest it google a business called " the parts drop". Call and ask for Britt, he has the part. I believe it to be less than $20, and if he doesn't have instructions, let me know, I can tell you how to replace that. Its really easy. If you open the machine and look in back, just before the fuser, " the HOT area, You will most likely see the gear broken into 3 or 4 pieces. While your at it. inspect the condition of the rollers in the fuser, if any of them show wear replace them at the same time. There should be a cleaner roller, white, most likely black by now that would be a good idea to replace with the gear if the pink and aluminum roll are in good shape, that will extend the life of the more expensive heat and pressure rollers. Like I said if Britt doesn't have the instrutions, let me know. I will type them out for you.

Locate the Clear Button, which is grey in color, in the upper right corner above the green Start button
Locate the Auto Button the lower left corner of the Control Panel
Turn the power back on.
Press the buttons in the following sequence, releasing each button after each time you press it: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto]. Every light on the Control Panel should go out, and the error code should clear.
If the error code has not cleared, wait a few seconds then repeat Steps 1 through 5.
Program the copier as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Press the green [Start] button to store the reset code. The copier will return to the ready position.
two things cause this problem the toner cartridge or the fuser 85% of the time its the fuser. check the rollers of the fuser for toner build up.
if you want to isolate it sent a print job that is 2 0r 3 pages when the first one comes out of the output bin open the front door this will stop the other 2 pages. 1 half way thruogh the fuser and the other halfway past the toner inspect the pages this will tell you exactly whats causing it
If the printer starts to print and stop in the middle check the eletricity of your place, this may have a variation. If the printer prints a half page and give you the paper, with no jam, check the cartridges and then the main board.
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed throught the printer. The reason for this, in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time. Worth a try. I have fixed a number of printers this way saving costly repairs. Bud
If it starts to make a copy and the light comes on then stops in the middle there is a problem w/the connection.
check the cable that turns on the light it may have a cut and is not making contact in a particular spot. If not then it may be the board that controls the lamp.
