Question about Motherboards
I have ECS 945GCT-M/1333 Motherboard with 1 Hard Drive and 1 IDE DVD Drive for a while.
And the Motherboard recognizes HDD as Primary IDE Master and DVD Rom as Primary IDE Slave.
Yesterday, I install one more IDE hard drive and add SATA DVD RW Drive.
I made correct jumper setting on both hard drives (one as Master and the other as slave).
Also did correct connection on IDE cable (Blue to Mother board, Gray to Slave and Black to Master).
And connect SATA cable to SATA1 in the motherboard.
But when I boot, system recognize DVD RW Drive as Primary Master IDE and Hard Drives as IDE 3 Master and IDE 3 Slave. It took a while to boot up but successfully launch Win XP Pro.
Today, I went to ECS website and update bios to latest version but still same.
Since it boots it is not big deal but how can I correct this issue?
I would like to make HDD1 as Primary IDE Master and HDD2 as Primary IDE Slave.
I looked all over but could not find the answer.
Thanks in advance,
Hello. Some motherboards set SATA1 as IDE primary master, for compatibility. Try connect the DVD RW to SATA2 or SATA3 Port.

You can resolve this problem:
Go to the setup-then go to Advanced setup-and then go to hard disk drives- there put in 1st drive the hard disk you want to boot (where is locate the Operative System) this you can do it pressing ¨Enter¨ and selecting with ¨flecha arriba o flecha abajo´¨ in spanish lenguith. then you shuld press F10 and salve & exit.
That is all.
