Try another power supply. If you don't have one try visiting the place you purchased the laptop and using the power from one of their display units. If it works, then replace the power supply of course.

If not hopefully your laptop is still under warranty.

Does the jack feel loose, do you get an lights?

Let me know.

If the jack feels loose then it's probably causing the problem. You can find people on craigslist or a local shop to replace the jack. Don't pay more than $100 or you're being ripped off.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best of luck!

Hello! It seems that you have a problem with the laptop charger connector. It maybe in short circuit. You can try to look for some electronic workshop that works with reballing, BGA solder, etc., that might change it. In Portugal we have some, so I think in other countries you can find them to.

When i plug in power charger, it says the computer doesnt recognize charger, and the computer wont charge. I have to plug it in a few times, then the battery will charge

Hello.

The most common reasons are the power adapter/cord and power jack.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.
The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I would suggest that you powerdrain first your desktop before turnng it on again. What might cause this problem is you did not properly shutdown you computer or power interuption. To powerdraqin your computer you must unplug first the powercord on the back of your desktop then you should press and hold the power button for 20 seconds without the powercord plugin to your desktop, after that you can now plug in the powercord and turn on your desktop computer. If this troubleshooting step doesnt work you can try unpluging the powersupply itself into the motherboard and just plug it back, also while your doing this you might also try clean the
RAMS or the memory of your computer and make sure that they are properly seated. Hope this helps

Can a powercord go bad. My daughter has a Dell

It is unlikely that the battery of your Dell had to be changed in year and a half's time. Anyway now that you have a new battery and the laptop is still not functional means that either the charger is faulty (unlikely) or the power on switch is bad (most likely). When you used the new battery first time, did the laptop come on even for a short while. If it did then the charger is faulty. If it did not then the switch may be faulty. Please check and come back to me.

I have the hp omnibook 500 plugged into the wall but im not getting in response, do i need to have anything else plugged into the laptop

if the charge light doesnt turn on on the computer ..then you may have a broken wire from the charger .. that happens frequently right at where the wire enters the plug that plugs into the computer .. someone thats knowlegable about polarity and soldering can replace the tip .. or you could get a new charger ... if the charge light does lignt steady on the computer then thats not the problem .. often it is ..

Laptop won't charge

1, look at the bottom, there should a sliding switch use to unlock the battery, some have 1 or more sliding switch to remove the battery. 2. best reference is your user manual, if you dont have it, try googling on the net for your user manual of your laptop.

Dell Inspiron 2200 Charger Malfunction

Try to turn off the computer and remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook. Turn on the computer with just the charger plugged in. If it doesnt turn on. you may have a bad power port.

If it has no power/charging issue since that happened except that the indicator light doesnt turn on when you plug in the charger, you may just need a bios update. Click here. That's the bios update for the inspiron 2200 from dell's website. You should have at least 30% charge on the battery and the ac adapter should be plugged in so you can run it. The computer will restart and will come back normally after this. I'd suggest that you backup your files before running this.
