Acer note book used to connect to internet wirelessly automaticly .wont do it now. icon at corner doesnt do nothing. have i changed a setting by accident,if so how do i check.Help

Provided you still know the settings, I mean the either WEP or WPA authentications, then just do this, go to your control panel, then click on network connections, then locate your Wireless Nework adapter and right click on it, select the properties tab, then beside the general tab, you should see Wireless networks, click on it, then you will see Advanced, this is where you can set the connetion type to use,(i.e either Access Point, Infratructure or AD HOC)...and you can also configure the other settings here , for you to be able to access the Wireless network of your choice.
Hope it helps you out.
Goodluck!

I cant get into the network centre settings and i have no wireless icon

Hi,
Found this on the web and it worked for me.
"Follow this then restart and everything should come back to normal. It took me 3 minutes and worked fine.
This is to find and delete the networking folder (which is causing the problem):
1. From the regular Aspire One options page, go to the Files panel
2. Click on the triangle to see more icons
3. Click on MyFiles, which opens a file manager window.
4. In the menu bar, select View->Hidden files, to show a tick in the box. You should be in the "My Disk:///" directory.
5. Scroll down until you find folder "gconf" and then click on that
6. Find folder "system" and click on that
7. You should now see folder "networking" listed as one of the folders.
8. DELETE IT! (Right click on the networking folder, and select option delete.)
I just restarted from here and the icon re appeared in bottom right the menu bar, I just clicked on it to set it up with my wifi signal and it did the rest itself."

Wifi connectin problem

is your wireless router set to broadcast itself?
you should be able to double-click the small, single computer icon in the lower right corner and have at least one wireless network (yours) to connect to. once you click it to connect, it may require a key sequence, if it is set up for it (passcode). Also, try clicking "Start", right-click "Computer", choose "Properties", "hardware" tab, and "Device Manager". Check to see if your wireless network card has a driver problem (yellow exclamation point". Can you access the network with your netbook connected to the router via a cable? If you can, and have internet access, go to the Acer Support site and download the latest wireless card drivers and install them. see if this helps. Good luck!

Wireless icon has disappeared from system tray and when I try to open network centre/connection icon it will not open.

The following solution has worked for me:
- Right-click "My computer" on the start menu, and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Hardware" tab, and select "Device Manager"
- Check if the wireless adapter is listed under "Network adapters"
- If it's not listed, right-click and select "Scan for hardware changes"

With any luck, the wireless adapter should be detected, and the drivers installed.

No internet connection on aspire 1 notebook

This sounds like a power save feature as laptops tend to disable networking features when the battery gets low.
Plug in the power cord and see what happens

The wireless icon has vanished on my acer aspire one netbook and i cant get online

Go to Start/Settings/Network Connections. When the window opens right click on the Wireless Network Icon and select Properties. In XP there should be a check box to allow display of notification when connected. If some other OS, hold the right button down on the Icon and drag it to the task bar. It should drop an icon for showing the status.
Before doing all of this, is there an arrow to the left of the icons? If so, click on it see if the Icon is simply hidden.
