Cavalry external hard drive CAUE 250 Gig Case has defective switc

I sent my original drive back to Cavalry's warranty soon after original purchase. Speaking to their tech man, he revealed they've had this same problem on many units, not sure if they replaced my drive or swapped out the defect in the case. I have to tap the case harder everytime to unfreeze something inside in order for my laptop to recognize the drive. Transfer to/from work fine after it gets recognized. But I grow weary of this routine. Could it be the drive itself or does this sound like a defect in the case that a swap out case might resolve?

Has anyone tried to swap out the hard drive into another enclosure?
I bought a used hard drive on ebay and am going to attempt to recover my data by swapping the drive.
My current CAUE37500 will turn on, turn red and then blue with a blinkng red light. Seems to be internally accessing data, but my computer will not see it any longer. Tried everything including a new USB cable, power supply and my laptop.
Anyone have any sucess? Also, the light flashing red / blue.. seems to have no decoder ring in the manual.
Any suggestions or youtube videos of anyone doing this would be great. Please let me know.

This hard drive needs to be repartitioned and formatted first then you should see actual amount. You can do this when selecting the drive in windows 7 installation

> ticking of a watch ...

A typical sound from a disk-drive that has malfunctioned.

If it still has a valid WARRANTY, exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

If the warranty has expired, then open the case, remove the disk-drive, buy a new "compatible" disk-drive, connect it, and thus "revive" your external storage device.

External hard drive will not power on

The adapter case could be faulty but the hard drive may be OK.
Remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. Then plug the adapter into a working computer's USB port and if this computer sees it as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files, then the hard drive is OK and you only need to buy a new USB hard drive adapter case.
If the hard drive is faulty, and the data is very important to you, there are companies that can retrieve data from faulty hard drives BUT it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.

Was sent my old internal harddrive after a warranty service to make a backup from and i want to know what connection i need to make it usb. 5K250-250

you can purchase a huge range of drive interfaces from your local computer store. Make sure you get an interface, or USB external case to suit the drive interface ( PATA or SATA ) plug the ting in and connect to your pc through a usb port... then I would copy the entire drive contents onto another drive..
