Re: can't load disc
As there is a small gears on both the sides of the door which gets a command to spin when you press the eject button as that gears are either worn out or got craked internally or are getting blocked due to any dust collected in between .if cracked or worn out replacement is necessary.but if got blocked due to dust particles just will have to open the unit by removing the screws from its top and back body and then cleaning the gears which will be easily seen internally.

There are two fault possibilities for this problem. Both are not user reapairable. The first one is of 'sled' motor. Sled motor is one that spins the DVD disc inside the DVD mechanism. If it fails to rotate the disc, the laser reading assembly cant get any signal from the inserted disc and will show "Reading" display on the front panel for a long time, and finally stops. The second one is of Laser Pickup Unit Assembly itself. If it has got damaged, there will be no laser beam to scan the DVD inserted, and the same thing as described above will occur. In both cases the final displauy will be "Open". To replace both items, you have to take its mechanism fully outside and to disassemble it. It is really a skilled work. It is best for you to get it repaired by any experienced service technician you know very well, or get it repaired by any authorised service centers. OK.
First the Dvr 1200 has hard ware failure in it the tray eject unit and the display is failed ........................................it can fix in local service center.............................
Second your New DVR 1600 check the format of the dvd is it compactiable with format of the player and if face the same problem get it replaced as this is new player manual opening could lead no warranty on the player , it better to get it replaced ..
Exactly the same problem myself. Try pressing open and then holding tight to a cotton bud, sweep inside the machine. The problem seems to be dust collecting. If it works then get a proper cleaning disc. My problem got so bad that the machine would spit out most discs as unable to read.
I am French I can tell you that the repair of the lens is very costly. It is practically the price of nine. Guess ... € 250!. On the coup's my agitated. Decevant it from yamaha. Both buy another home cinema.
are they bootleg dvd's? if not try getting a lense cleaner because wrong disc means it's reading your dvd's as .mov files which only play on quicktime in a computer. if it reads your cleaner as wrong disk too then get yourself a refund cuz it has a motherboard malfunction.
When the DVD player is plugged into power and switched on, and won't power up (nothing shows up in the front display panel), the power supply unit in the DVD is blown. the noise that player made was probably a capacitor going off. You will have to get the unit repaired.
If you are lucky to have a normality relapse, maybe after resting the DVD recorder for a while, you could try 2 firmware updates found here - http://support.cyberhome.com/support_web.nsf/All_Docs/?SearchView&Query=(DVR%201500)%20AND%20(Downloads%20and%20Updates)&Start=1&Count=10
But theres a 99% chance that you're stuck in the initial setup mode(have you just puirchased it?) - if you wish to skip this setup press- > enter > return > enter - on the remote panel, make sure to press every button only once.
If you wish to go through with setting up the date/time etc, then follown the instructions in this addendum to the manual:
