I have a Cuisinart Coffee Maker. The Clean light keeps blinking. I have changed the filter and cleaned the Coffee Maker, but the RED light keeps blinking.

Bottom Line don't purchase this coffee maker. The light came on in 4 days after purchase. Spent more in filters and cleaners. Buy a cheap one. It will out last this one

Hello carrie_peter,
This a common problem with this unit.
I recently had this similar problem. If you still have your machine try the following.
Your described problem may be one of two problems. Let's start with the easier solution first. In the DCC 1200 there is a filter "stick or column" in the left rear. Pull it out and remove the clogged carbon filter(s) that are in there. Shine a light into the receptacle and remove the debris in the bottom. It is likely that this is causing the problem with you machine needing to be started on multiple times. See if this solution works. If it does, you might run 8 cups of water and 4 cups of vinegar through to help decalcify the units plumbing. Do this once or twice and then rinse with at least one pot run-through of clean water. If this works then you are good to go.
Next, if this does not solve your problem we can do the following: unplug the unit and lay it on its back. You will need a #10 torx driver (hardware store if you don't have one) to remove the bottom cover plate. There are 4 torx screws holding it on. When removed, you will find 2 orange hoses. Carefully attempt to remove the left hose without splitting. I used an eyeglass screwdriver to loosen it up. If it splits, just cut off the split and stretch it to reconnect when time comes. As you look into the hose you will find a little black valve inside as well a some gunk. Clean it all out with a fine wire as best you can. Rinse well. Attempt to reconnect the hose back onto the pipe. Slip the pipe clamp back into place. Replace the cover and screws and you should be good to go again. This is not as daunting as it may seem. You can do it. :o) Good luck! If this answer helps, please leave positive feedback for me. Much appreciated. Regards, NormanZ

Unplug the machine for longer than 20 minutes. When you replug it, the self-clean light should be off.

Got this coffee maker from a buddy. had been sitting for a while, ran lots of water and 2 cycles of vineger and water though without the filter to clean out debris in resevoir. still getting quit a bit in...

You may find this a useful site in the future:

http://www.cuisinart.ca/cuisinart_product.php?item_id=63&product_id=58&cat_id=2

Your Instruction Booklet:

http://www.cuisinart.ca/pdf/ibs/en/DCC-1200C_en.pdf

It is likely that calcified deposits are gradually breaking away as you now use the coffee maker. Is your Self Clean light flashing? Instructions on decalcification and cleaningh begin on page 5 of your booklet.

To clean, fill the water reservoir to capacity with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. For your problem, let the vinegar solution sit in the reservoir for 30 minutes to an hour before beginning the cleaning cycle.

Press the Self Clean button. When the self clean light glows, turn the coffeemaker on by pressing the ON button. The self clean light will shine steadily. The coffeemaker is now in Self Clean mode. One cycle should be sufficient to adequately clean the coffeemaker. When the cycle is completed and the five beeps sound, the coffeemaker will shut off. Turn the coffeemaker ON to see if the Self Clean light continues to flash. If it does, turn it to OFF and then repeat the cleaning procedure with a fresh solution of vinegar and water.

If the Self Clean light no longer flashes, turn the coffeemaker to OFF and then run one cycle of fresh cold water through the unit before using the unit again to brew coffee.

If you continue to see debris, unfortnately you will have to repeat until clear.

The cleaning button keeps flashing after cleaning. I have cleaned this with water & vinegar several times, but can only make one or two pots of coffee before the cleaning button begins to flash again....

We have this problem as well. We simply clean it as directed once or twice with the vinegar and water mix and then unplug for an hour. This resets our machine for several weeks. Based on the number of comments I've seen on this issue, it seems that the "off" sensor doesn't work.

After cleaning my Cuisinart DCC 1150

Hello sammar2,
This is a really common problem with the cuisinarts. I am most familiar with the DCC-1200, but you may be able to solve the problem. The light being on is an indication that something is plugged up. Open the top of the unit and in one of the corners you should find a filter stick or column that is removable. Pull it out and open it up to clean out the clogged up carbon filter in there. (You can later buy a new filter on Amazon.) Clean out the debris from the bottom of the cavity. Replace the stick into the cavity once cleaned. Now it's time to run through a solution of 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Do this once or twice with fresh solutions, then with a pot of fresh water. When the filter stick is plugged up the sensor says its time to clean it, but most people don't know about this fix. I hope this is helpful to you, sanmar. Positive feedback is appreciated. Good luck. NormanZ

Water line on intermittent flash after trying to clear the steam

I was able to fix the problem after reading your post.

I had lost my manual and found a copy of the instruction manual online. http://www.espressoitalia.com.au/viewStory/Coffee%20Machine%20Manuals

I read the instructions for de-scaling (page 15) and followed it EXACTLY the way it instructed me to.

The entire process took roughly 2.5-3 hours. I set an alarm to remind me to re-dispense the solution again (for 15 seconds) every 10 minutes.

I'm not sure if you skipped a few steps(I did the first time I went through it). If anything, the trick might be to hold the hot water button for 6 seconds to disable the de-scaling alarm.

Your de-scaling alarm probably hasn't been de-activated. ( To make sure I held the hot water button for about 15 seconds)

Cleaning light will not quit blinking after cleaning

The same thing happened to our Mr. Coffee this week! I followed the instructions about running vinegar through, then rinsing several times with water. However, the light would not stop blinking. We did by-pass the light by setting the timer for delayed brewing and it worked. However, that blinking light came on again. Then, my husband tired the vinegar wash again but instead of doing it one time, he ran the same vinegar through 6 times until the light went out! Then he proceeded with the water rinse. Our Mr. Coffee is working again!

Mine sometimes does this but cleaning the barcode reader at the top of the machine (small glass panel) fixed it. Also make sure the water container is seated correctly. If these dont fix it try pushing the water container left right/back front while there is a disc in the machine-mine has started to only work if I push the fitted water container backwards when "brewing".Its out of warranty now so I will make do until it breaks completely.
