Unplug it; pull out the battery; with the battery out of the laptop, press the power button for a few seconds; let it sit for a few minutes. Then reinstall the battery and see if it powers up. This method doesn't always work but I've seen it work on more than one occasion.

Does the blue light come on at the side where you plug your ac adaptor in? If it does, and your laptop still wont turn on, its likely you have a motherboard failure. Also try this without the battery inside. If the light is not coming on the charger port at the side, then its most definitely your ac adaptor at fault.

I would say you have destroyed the battery charger. You can get someone with a digital mulitmeter to easily check if its charging or not.

just remove the battery and disconnect the AC adapter.. then press and hold power button for 30 secs... Then power the sys with the battery.. this might fix the issue.. Its recommended to go for a new battery if the Laptop has aged more than a year after purchase...

Pavilion dv6000 when power button is pressed,

Have you tried to boot the laptop with the power cable connected? Is the charging indicator on when you connect it to the adapter? If the charging indicator does not light up, check if your adapter output and try booting it with the power cable connected.
