SD Card wiped is wiped out, crashes camera?

Ok, I was using my SD card and downloading files to my compter when, in My Computer, right-clicked it to press 'Explore' but by accident I hit 'Format'. After that, I took out the card and assumed that only the pictures were erased. Wrong. My SD card freezes my camera the second it is turned on, and while out my camera works perfectly. It also does not read in my Wii. What have I done!?

It doesn't matter frcs68, I have like 5 cameras that all freeze. The problem was the "Format" i accidentally clicked. Now though, I can't even plug it into the computer to find out what is wrong.

Mu computer is windows 7 professional

Marie, If your computer is not equipped with a SD/Micro SD card Reader you will have to purchase one to simplify looking at it and copying it on computer. You can also use appropriate cable possibly to hook your camera up to computer.
Step 1/ Insert a USB card reader into an available USB port on your PC.
Step 2/ Insert the micro SD card into the card reader. Some card readers will only accept standard SD cards. If that's the case, insert your micro SD card into an SD card adapter and insert the adapter into the card reader.
Step 3/ Click "Open Folder to View Files" in the Auto Play window to launch Windows Explorer in the appropriate drive letter. Alternatively, press "Windows-E" and click the card reader's drive letter.
Step 4/ Drag and drop files to or from the micro SD card's drive letter to copy files. Alternatively, right-click and drag files and then select "Move Here" to move the files without keeping the files in the original location.
Step 5/ Select a file, press "Delete" and select "Yes" to delete files from the micro SD Card.
Step 6/ Right-click the micro SD card's drive letter and select "Eject." Once ejected, you may safely remove the card.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

After downloading movies to the computer they were lost and wiped clean from the sd card. after finally finding the movies on the computer we managed to find a way to play them but with no sound! Please...

OK, here's a suggestion. First, create a folder for the movie on your desktop. Then, remove the card from the camera, insert it into a separate card reader and plug the card reader into a USB port on your computer. When it opens, drag and drop the movie files to the new folder. Use "safely remove hardware" function to remove the cardreader. Now, your card still has the movies on it and they are also on your computer. You can send them to whatever program you use on your computer to view or edit them. Quicktime, a free movie viewer from is a good choice to view them. typrice_219.jpg

The SD card shown in my computer has "empty file" but it does have pics in it if used in the digital camera. what should i do?

I have had success with this memory card recovery software called asoftech data recovery... Download the program

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

When i put my sd memory card back in my digital camera it said file error

This can be due to a corrupt configuration file in the SD card. I recommend:
1) Insert the card in the SD slot in a computer that has the slot
2) Go to "My Computer" (or "Computer" in Windows 7)
3) Right click the "SD card" icon
4)Click "Format..."
5) Press "Start"
Then you should be able to use the SD card properly with your camera.

Camera formated sd card with photos. any way to recover lost phots? JERRY

Hi, gschlatt. You have great chance, do not miss it. It is quite possible to recover the photos no matter deleted, formatted, lost or inaccessible from your sd card. All you need to do first is by trying SD card recovery software tools.

Note: before those files are recovered, never should you attempt to save more data to the card. better stop using it for a moment. Hope it helps. Regards.

How do you delete photos already downloaded ?

Before you delete them I highly recommend saving another copy of the downloaded files by saving on a dvd usb, or an external hard disk. You never know when the computer may crash or the files accidentally deleted.

The images on the card can be completely deleted by clicking the format card command. You will be asked if you are sure and that all the files will be deleted you click ok or delete. Inside the camera the format card command can be accessed from one of the menu settings (same place you set the date and language. Of course you can also delete individual photos, for example after shooting a bad shot, by pressing the delete button (it looks like a bucket).

You can also format the card without the camera using a card reader. Attach it to the computer by USB and go to My Computer where the card will appear as D: or E: .Right-click there and you will see the format command. Or simply open the files select and delete.

Thank you for rating this fixit solution.

Missing pictures

Lets check the SD card first.

Take out the SD card and put it in external card reader connected to computer.

Copy/transfer all the photos from the SD card to computer.

goto My Computer and right-click the 'Removable Disk' (the SD card drive) and click Properties.
click Tools and click Error checking - Check now button
select the option 'automatically fix file-system errors' and click Start button.
if any errors was found and fixed, you can also Format the SD card. And your SD card should not drop photos again.

Now put SD card back in the camera.

Now take 20 test photos and check if something is missing.
if not take 20 more test photos and check if something is missing.
if all is ok then you can delete all test photos and start taking normal photos.
