Question about Kenmore 95002 / 95004 Electric Kitchen Range

Oven gets very hot when all cntrols are turned off

When oven is off , when the whole stove is off ,the oven gets so hot it sets the smoke alarm off and it displays the code F1 whats that?

    Nothing but the clock is running, but the bake function is glowing orange and only the breaker switch can stop the madness. I have searched for a solution on the web but noone has an answer. The whole thing is rediculous.

The bake relay on the oven control is stuck..This is a non servicable part and must be replaced. In this condition the sensor/thermostat will not turn it off. Dangerous condition, repair ASAP

    I meant the relay is non servicable and the entire control to be replaced, not the oven. Sorry for not being more clear.

I have a kenmore range # 79094152310. And when I turn on the right front burner, the top of the oven gets so hot you would get burnt if you touched it, is this normal for this stove?


no --not normal
stoves even glass top stoves are only hot in vicinity of the hot plates
if the whole top is hot , call an electrician in to check the systems

Our new home has a GE XL44 gas stove the top works fine but when I use the oven it smokes and sets off the smoke alarms.The stove is over 3 years old Any ideas before I have to call the repairman in?


A gas stove shouldn't smoke. Is is clean? There is some grease that has eluded your cleaning efforts of interior surface?

Here are some tips that may help you resolve this problem:

Check the broiler flame. If the broiler flame is not adjusted properly, you could be creating soot from the burner flame.

Position the items that your are broiling lower so that they do not splatter grease up onto the broiler baffle.

Use a broiler pan that will drain grease and drippings down below the top surface.

Broiling many items will naturally produce some smoke. If you have the oven door closed when broiling then the only place that the smoke can go is up and out of the oven vent. If you partially open the oven door, some of the smoke will come out of the door opening.

You may have residue on the top walls of the inner oven cavity. Do you have self-clean feature on your range to clean the oven? Follow all of the procedures in your owner's manual to properly clean the oven using the self-clean cycle. This may clear out any undetected residue that could be causing excessive smoke during broiling.

Black smoke coming out oven when cooker and oven on at same time


sounds like the debris from previous cooking is burning. I would suggest cleaning it first. If it's not happening when one or the other is on it might be because what ever is in there is burning at a higher temp. or two it could be that the element is getting too hot and is burning the metal itself. How old is the oven, what kind and cooker? do you mean the stove part? if it's the stove part there might be a leak from the top into the stove -older stoves - the back left burner also got heat from the oven. when cooking you could but a pot or pan on it and not have to turn it on.

F05 has to do with the self cleaning mechanism. I know it goes with out saying, but sparks and smoke are a bad thing. i would strongly suggest turning off the breaker and calling in a service person.

Smoke means extreme heat or FIRE is melting something..
Please be safe and have it fixed..

Oven smells like gas when on


If the oven is new and has never been used, it should be cured before using. There is a curing your oven page in all manuals before use. You have to wash and burn off all the chemicals used in making the thing. Are u sure it sets off the smoke alarm and not the carbon monoxide alarm. Be careful some alarms are equipped with both now a days and people cant tell the difference. Get your gas company there to check it. Carbon monoxide is undetectable to the nose and is deadly so please be very careful! If there is smoke and u have cured ur oven then there maybe some old food on the burner, remove the bottom plate and check. If there is no smoke and no food on the burner then u need to change ur ignitor. It maybe old, cracked or both. Typical repair cost on high end range is 300 - 400 for 1 ignitor. Good luck. And I urge u to see if it is Carbon Monoxide!

Self cleaning oven directions


MAKE SURE OVEN IS EMPTY LOCK OVEN DOOR AND TURN OVEN SETTING TO CLEAN, IF YOU HAVE A VENT TURN IT ON THERE WILL BE SMOKE! LET RUN TWO HOURS,TURN OFF,LET COOL BEFORE TRYING TO UNLOCK IT (WILL NOT UNLOCK WILE STILL HOT!) OPEN DUST OUT ASH ITS CLEAN!!!

No heat!!!


On 220volt ovens it usually means that half of your power isn't working. That's why you still have some things working. Check your breaker box and see if there's a breaker tripped. Look for a 50 amp and turn it all the way off and then back on.
