Hi... I need a new cdrw to replace a Richo 6424s. I already have a SCSI card and the difference in price is not a problem. Which drive should I get? The 1210s works with clone cd and i believe can copy a safedisc 2 disk and play it in the recorder. Is the 1610a compatible with clone cd? Its not listed on their page yet. Does anyone know if the 1610a can copy a safedisc 2 disk and play it? Is there anything else to consider besides the speed? thanks for the help.
Plextor Europe --- State of play in the CD-ROM / CD-RW Market --- Some of you may have seen a statement elsewhere on Plextor Europe dropping it's SCSI production of CD-ROM drives. Well, we contacted Plextor Europe to get a response to this, and here is what was said:
Does Plextor Europe plan to stop producing SCSI CD-ROM drives?". "Plextor Europe will try to continue selling SCSI CD-ROM drives as long as possible, but seeing the shortage in some components, we believe that around summer period this year, we could see a formal EOL of this product."
Does Plextor plan to release a SCSI version of the PX-W1610TA ? "Plextor will not release a SCSI version of the 16/10/40 CD-R/W. We will continue to commercialize our 12/10/32 SCSI version."
Can you tell me what Plextors Road Map is for the next 6 months ? "It is for me not possible to disclose anything with regards to Plextors road map or new planned products. Plextor has the policy to announce and release products, as and when we know they will be available to the market. In this way, the market always knows exactly what and when they can expect something new from Plextor. We want to avoid (as unfortunately a lot of our competitors do) to announce a product very early, and then have to delay it, and in this way confuse the market."
Other questions were asked, but Plextor Europe declined to comment or answer them for us

Plextor are not doing a SCSI version of the 16x CDRW and they should know what they're doing.
Don't waste any more money on SCSI gear... you might even get some money for the card.. just sell it.

PX -W4824A I had the old uninstalled EZCD Creator 4 from XP SP3 and had to use the delete the Upper & Lower Filters in the registry fix to get Device Manager to remove the yellow triangle exclamation points from my CD drives problem. Once the drives were recognized both in Device Manager & Windows Explorer (this was happening to an old Creative DVD-ROM drive, too) neither would acknowledge a CD in the tray "Please insert a disk into drive #:" even with a formatted or recorded audio CD or an OEM data / software CD. After a firmware upgrade to the Plextor and an uninstall / reinstall in Device Manager for both they will both read a CD sometimes but most of the time they will NOT. Some times if the CD was in the drive on reboot they won't read it until the disc is ejected and the tray re closed. Plextor sometimes identifies in Windows Explorer as CD-RW Drive but mostly as CD Drive. Autoplay also executes intermittently. Help will be greatly appreciated.

I installed my old plexwiter on my newer computer and the drive slows my computer down and it will not read any disks. Sometimes it will read music CD's and play them, but it will not reasd any other CD's, software CD's included. Sometimes it will not read any at all. I do have the driver. Sometimes it will freeze my computer, but if I open it and close it my computer ressumes. Also if I do this and just leave it open it will not close after a whils. Please Help.
