i would that removing it in device manager, reboot see if it comes back. then look for the screw holding it in the acer notebook. and take it out. reboot, shutdown then put it back, reboot. i have a 5100 that needed a replacement,so i know they can fail, hope this is not your problem. good luck.

Install the newest drivers for your cd/dvd drive for your Acer model. These can be found on Acer's website.
If this doesn't work, take out the cd/dvd drive, and check the cables to make sure they are snugly inserted. If the laptop experienced an impact recently, it is very likely that the cables became loose or fell off alltogether.

Sounds like the drive is disabled or the drivers have become corupt or deleted. Go to the device manager and see if it is disabled. If not then try reinstalling the drivers

I can,t found cd/dvd icon in my computer And i can,t play any cd or dvd I have Notebook Acer ( aspire 5635WLMI )

This may be as simple as the fact that the BIOS settings could be set to make the drive not appear, or it could be a defective drive. Try to check your BIOS settings to be sure it is set either to "AUTO" or to the drive itself. If it is setup in bios but it does not recognize there, it is probably a defective drive. Also, check device manager in windows and see if the drive shows there. If it shows there but will not play a disc it is more than likely defective....

Acer aspire 3050-1733

Hi there,

Try downloading the most current Chipset drivers from Acer:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_3050.html

This sorts out most blank media problems. Also, you could try a dvd/cd lens cleaner.

Hope that helps
