NO THE PLUG IS NOT YELLOW. I PUT THE BLUE PLUG INTO THE MODEM AND IT DID NOT TURN ON. THERE IS A MALE PLUG THAT HANGS OUT OF THE BLUE PLUG. SO IF THAT DOES NOT GO TO ANYTHING THEN WHY WON'T IT TURN ON.

  • jjjp_143 Feb 26, 2009

THE PLUG IS A TAN COLOR JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE PLUG. I MEAN THE TOWER SORRY.

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2009

IT ONLY HAS ONE PIN. YES IT LOOKS LIKE AN AC ADAPTER. EVEN WHEN I PLUGED IN THE BLUE PLUG IT STILL WOULD NOT TURN ON EVEN WITH OUT PLUGING IN THAT OTHER PLUG.

  • jjjp_143 Feb 26, 2009

I DONT THINK THAT IT IS FOR THE AUDIO. IT IS LIKE AN AC ADAPTOR PLUG. IT ONLY HAS ONE PIN. THE HOLE IS SILVER BUT THE OUTSIDE IS TAN LIKE THE REST OF THE CORD. I HAVE EVEN TRYED PLUGING IN THE BLUE PART WITHOUT PLUGING THAT OTHER PIECE AN IT STILL DONT TURN ON.

If it is a yellow plug it is for a built in microphone.

Using with a laptop

Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI.

If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.

If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.

You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.

Connecting the monitor to the cpu

There is a small female port on the back of the computer, usually colored blue. It has three rows of 5 sockets per row. There should be a matching male plug coming out of the monitor, connect the male to female being careful not to bend any of the pins, they can be fragile. Once that is connected, turn on the computer and you should be all set.

they all come with two cables. blue being vga, white being dvi cable. you only need to plug the blue into both ends (computer and into the monitor) and turn on. If it is still not working how many video cards are there on the computer? Do you have it plugged into the right spot and is it tight on both ends?

Trying to hook up magnVOX 15'' HD TV MONITOR and not sure abbout ports on back of pc

depending on the model of pc and what graphics card you may have. But generally, just match the color coded port to the color coded cable. VGA(blu), HDVI(long and white), Composite (white, yellow, red). If you are using VGA, or HDVI, you will need and additional cable to connect the audio from the pc to the TV. It has two male ends that look like headphone plugs that you plug into PC's green or blue audio ports. If you have a 7.1 audio card, you may want to used home entertainment system for audio but not being connected to the TV means you cannot record TV unless you have a TV tuner built in to PC.

Can't get LG CRT monitor to work at all.

If the computer has DVI male, you simply need a VGA to DVI adapter.
However, the plugs on the computer should all be male, and cables coming from the monitor female. It seems you may be trying the wrong port.
