Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.
The monitor has both VGA and DVI.
If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.
If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.
You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.
There is a small female port on the back of the computer, usually colored blue. It has three rows of 5 sockets per row. There should be a matching male plug coming out of the monitor, connect the male to female being careful not to bend any of the pins, they can be fragile. Once that is connected, turn on the computer and you should be all set.
they all come with two cables. blue being vga, white being dvi cable. you only need to plug the blue into both ends (computer and into the monitor) and turn on. If it is still not working how many video cards are there on the computer? Do you have it plugged into the right spot and is it tight on both ends?
depending on the model of pc and what graphics card you may have. But generally, just match the color coded port to the color coded cable. VGA(blu), HDVI(long and white), Composite (white, yellow, red). If you are using VGA, or HDVI, you will need and additional cable to connect the audio from the pc to the TV. It has two male ends that look like headphone plugs that you plug into PC's green or blue audio ports. If you have a 7.1 audio card, you may want to used home entertainment system for audio but not being connected to the TV means you cannot record TV unless you have a TV tuner built in to PC.
Have you used the Fn button on your laptop and changed the video display Icon on the Blue Function keys. You need to change the display wait a few seconds for it to take affect. There are several modes try them all so you know how to use them.
If the computer has DVI male, you simply need a VGA to DVI adapter.
However, the plugs on the computer should all be male, and cables coming from the monitor female. It seems you may be trying the wrong port. http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html
