Originally one came with receiver but I just bought this used and there is no adapter with it. I am not sure what kind of plug is on the back of this feciever. Hope this is plain enough. have checked every site i can find on yamaha receivers and can't find it. thanks

Hi, I have an indoor fm antenna that has coax attached to it. The plug on back of my receiver is not for F connector, Have to have adapter. The coaxial end does not fit on it. has to have an adapter. I thought maybe it was a rca plug, so bought a F female to RCA male, nope it is not an RCA plug. I have ther manual. it does not say what the adapter is. i DO NOT NEED 75/300 OHM ADAPTER, MY END IS ALREADY 300 OHM BUT WON'T FIT RECEIVER PLUG. THANKS Sorry not yelling, caps stuck sorry

it is an F connector same as your tv's coax. Now just srew on a cable and splice out the other end or if you are good just slpice it up and expose the center conductor or a better way is that you can get the soler type F connectors at radioshack and just solder a 22 gauge speaker wire (10 - 15 feet long) to the connectors center and ground connections. Now just tear apart the other end for about 3 feet and spread them apart and tear off the jacket for about 1 inch now you have your Y antennae

This is your manual http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/pdf/av/english/re/HTR-5230.pdf

this is the 300 ohm adapter you need from radio shack and just install some small gauge speaker wire to it. or just splice the one that came with your receiver.

My yamaha HTR 5240 comes on for like 2 seconds and then turns off

That proves the audio output stage is shorted on or two channels. It will need to be checked out to assess the situation.

I have a Philips MC235B micro stereo system, but I'm too dumb to figure out the FM antenna connector type. Any help would be great, thank you!

Hi,
If it is a plug, it is probably the PAL connector so you would need a PAL female on your coax lead.

Something is triping internaly and shutting of the reciever

The protection circuitry is tripping, either because it is faulty, or because it is sensing a problem (overheating, excessive DC at the output, loss of a regulated voltage supply, etc...) Sounds like it needs surgery.

Yamaha htr5230 hookup

Hi, Your receiver is really the same as my HTR 5240. Same back and front. basically. Go to Retrevo for manual. Shows all the hook ups. I have VCR , DVD, Tape Deck, hooked to mine but can't find the adapter so i can hook up my indoor fm antenna. All my components plug to back of receiver then there is one RCA wire running from receiver to Tv.
