SOURCE: Power surge

do what it did, by a ups, set it to really sensitive, it will detect that start up surge as electrical noise and at least it will keep everything from turning off, just plug it into the surge only side, not the back up sid2e

I believe you're missing the power supply for the printer. The 3-prong power cord plugs in to the power supply. If you lost that part of the printer, I can only advise you to call Lexmark. They might be able to send you one.

    SOURCE: power surge

This is kind of hard to diagnose, but i can try to help you out. I had a problem like this in my own house. A laser printer when it first starts to print it pulls an incredable amout of electricity. Therefor it can make a few things happen. It can make your battery kick in which can be telling the pc to turn off. Or it can be blowing the fuse in your actual circuit panel. To test if you need more power i would run a heavy duty extension cord to the printer and plug it in to a seperate outlet than you can be certain is not on your comptuers circuit. If it works without turning your computer off you know your problem is your electric circuit in your house. I would then call an electrican. If it still does not work after trying the above which i dont see a happening then i would be kind of stumped :)...
Try this above step and let me know. thanks again
    Steven.
P.S. my computer worked fine for along time too before i saw any power issues.

I have replaced waste toner unit with new one on a WC 5050 and still shows the error message as full so unable to print

Reset to Default settings, if that does not work, shut down printer, unplug power from printer, shut down computer unplug power from computer, wait 20 seconds, plug power in to computer plug power in to printer, wait 5 seconds, boot computer, turn on printer.

NOTE: This should solve most problems with printers.

If still not working you have a faulty Toner unit.

Look around thoroughly in the Printers > Properties tabs. While in the shop, they have no doubt tested your computer (without your printer hooked up). Try letting your computer boot up without the printer, then with printer power on, plug in the USB cable.

Perhaps your printer is "offline." If so, right click on your printer's name in control panel. Choose "Use printer online".

    Says printer offline

1.check the printer power supply. And make sure that the printer is turn on.
. click on start - select control panel
. open printer and fax folder
. after open printer folder right click on the printer icon and select printer online option.

If it will not work then followed the below action plan.

    2. Your printer is not communicating with the Operating System.
First uninstall the printer. ( Make sure you have the printer driver disk )

Make sure the printer is OFF and disconnect the power lead to your desktop or laptop.

Leave the computer OFF for 2 to 3 minutes. I actually mean turn it off and disconnect your power cord to the computer. That will clear everything.

Plug in and on your computer and let it boot up. When its fully booted, click START / SETTINGS / PRINTERS and FAXes and click ADD A PRINTER.

Follow the instructions and have the appropriate driver disk or files on your computer to complete the installation.

Remember, most installations require the printer NOT be powered up or connected while you load the drivers. That is normally the last step and the driver loading will prompt you to turn on the power and make the connections.

Then you probably will have to reboot and voila, you're done.

    Printer not communicating with computer

    (1) Try a power cycle: Try turning the printer off, then unplug the power supply from the printer, then unplug the USB cable from the printer then the back of the computer; wait 30 second; then plug the USB cable back into the computer, then back into the printer then plug the power supply back into the printer and turn it on – run a test print: Start>Settings>Printers>Right-click on the printer>Properties>Print Test Page

    (2) Update the USB drivers
