Fan stopped working on our Bosch rangehood (Type D-FX41-8 or E-Nr. DKE935AAU). Lights working but the fan only inhibits a humming sound.

hi ;
the fan motor needs repair , the cause of humming is the vibration of induction on AC current in the motor.
if the motor stopped means it has faulty shafting and bushing, or maybe the starting capacitor needs a replacement, don't turn it on or use it to prevent burning of induction wire,
also it needs a qualified technician to repair ,

Would this work or burn out fans? Amps on one fan is 1.5 and the other is 5 amps I want to run a 12/2 wire from the panel and to the duplex switch and tie it into a 12/3 wire that goes to switch to...

Yes everything would work perfectly. I see no problems in your plan. Even if both fans were run off of one switch they would not burn out, the circuit it appropriately sized. You could even go a step down to save yourself some money and use 14/2 and 14/3 (supposing its only the fans running on the circuit). You can run up to 16 amps on 12 AWG wire and up to 12 amps on 14 AWG wire (80% of breaker tolerance). Also when it get to the fans use a wire junction box run your 3 wire cable in there and branch out to your fans from there with separate 2 wire cables. I believe that was your plan just wanted to clarify. Good luck!!

The exhaust hood of my restaurant is very noisy. The problem started 2 months ago.

I would first clean the hood throuoghly, and then check the bearing on the fan, also check if the fan blades are bent.

I have a dayton kitchen exhaust blower mod no. 4hz65, 1/25 hp, 1550 rpm, 115 volts, 1.5 amps, 8 inches. it does not seem to do the job, do i need a stronger one?

Remember air will only move as fast as the size of the exhaust pipe in relationship to the fans ability to push. Make sure yours is the proper size for the fans volume.

Smell of neighbours cooking comes through hood fan! HELP!

It appears to me that each hood has a fan discharging air and odours into a common duct.
The only solution to me is to have a main exhaust fan at the very end of the duct continually sucking the air out of the duct.This way it will not allow the individual hood fans to pressurise the main duct,forcing the air to esape through the path of least resistance,which happens to be the neighboars hood.

It may be that such a fan is existent but switched off due to malfunction,or switched off for running costs reasons.

GE zv950 monogram hood problem

You should be able to remove the flappers they are there for energy reasons. I cannot see how a little fresh air entering your house could be a problem. By the way I had the same problem in Ft laud with my hood. Just held the flapper up and used a touch of super glue to lock the shaft. Good luck
