You need a VGA cable to connect your laptop to your projector.
Try and google for a VGA Cable nearest to your place.

Connect laptop cable

Hi Anna,

It is impossible to connect to a projector with just a usb cable. You will need a VGA cable (for older models of projectors and laptops) or an HDMI cable which can be used with newer models.

Best of luck to you.

When using the computer with my projector my computer goes blank because i am not actively using it just having students view the screen what can i do

"test test" offers a good answer but misses out the possibility that your laptop "Power Settings" might be turning off your screen display. So if the problem persists after going through all the things already suggested you could go to your laptop's control panel to the Power Options and click on "Change when to turn off the display". Good luck.

I hv Sanyo PLC-SU07N Projector - the image is blue

I have a possible solution however it may not be THE solution your after, you'll probably be able to tell very quickly if it isn't, this will only apply if you are using either a component video signal or a PC/laptop signal to send to the projector.

If you are using a laptop or desktop to hook up your projector, I would try first of all double checking that it's correctly plugged in, and if you still have no luck try a different cable.
It's likely to be the cable because when the signal goes down the cable it's split into 5 different signals. 3 of these are the colour information for Red, Green and Blue. Depending on what you mean by 'image is blue', it could mean that your either not getting the information for Red, or your not getting the information for Red AND Green. If you want to test this, open up microsoft paint while connected to the projector and create 3 boxes, then fill 1 completely red, 1 completely green and one completely blue. If you are missing the information to any of these colours then that colour will appear black on the projector screen.

In component video the signal is split down 3 cables (rather than 5) and 2 are colours (rather than 3)... Red and Blue. Check that the cable running red (Usually labelled Pr on the DVD and projector) is completely plugged in (some of these are really tight, but it's important that it goes all the way) and also that you have plugged into the correct slot, for instance that you have plugged into Pr and not the right Audio channel, both of which are coloured red.

If you are still not having any luck then I would suggest using a computer monitor or a television (depending on what type of signal your sending it) to test the projector. Plug it in instead of the projector and if it works then the issue lies with the projector and I have at least narrowed it down for you.

Hope this has been helpful.

I have an Epson EMP-S4 projector. When I hook it up to my laptop the light comes on, but everything is in a shade of pink. I've tried adjusting color to no avail. Tried with another computer, same...

Check your cable you are missing a primary color and it could be that your cable is missing a pin/bent ck on both ends and even the projector input.

The projector shows slides as purple but computer has the right colours?

Check your cable...you are missing one of the primary colors. you could have a bent/broken pin on either the projector port or the cable or laptop port. this would be the VGA connection.

Need to get a torpedo projector to work with laptop

Unfortunately, there is no simple VGA-to-RCA adapter cable if you're connecting to a composite video input (usually colored yellow) or s-video input. VGA output is separate red, green and blue video and synchronizing signals, and they all need to be combined. You need a VGA-to-video converter to do this.

If the projector has component video input jacks, then you can buy a simple adapter cable.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!
