Video Codecs not working

Hi, my third question to you sir. I have installed Windows XP Professional, and a codec pack ''K LITE 4.6.2 FULL'' but still when I play Video files in players like WMP 11, VLC, or KMP all updated, they have a wide horizontal translucent dark green stripe on it. Sound is not an issue. I tried all the players n XP Codec Pack also. It is same. Plz guide me.

Just to add to this. Have you tried more than one video? Do they all have the same greens stripe?

It could be a video driver issue.

Have you already updated to the latest version?

I once used Klite, but now use CCCP instead since it has been more stable and seems to support more formats. You will want to uninstall the Klite code pack first, reboot, get the CCCP codec pack at (http://www.cccp-project.net/) then instal and I believe one more reboot. If this doesnt fix the problem, you can alwas reverse the process.

Download & install the codec "K-Lite Codec Pack or K-Lite Mega Codec Pack" latest version from http://www.free-codecs.com/

Your Media Player will play most of the Audio/video formats after the codec installation.

CODEC NOT FOUND

You may get the error messages related to Codecs while playing any Videos in Windows Media Player or any other Application.
This issue might occur, if the Video Codecs are not installed in the Computer.
However, you may install all the required Codecs by downloading the K-lite Codec pack.
This package will have all the Video Codecs required by the Computer.

I only get sound when using windows media player, no video, help please?

The problem is definitely the codecs you have installed.

Try a player that does not need codecs to be installed (has codecs packed inside its core) like KMPlayer, VLCPlayer, mPlayer etc.

If these players work then I suggest you stick with them, they are way better than Windows Media Player.

Still if they work and you love Windows Media Player then I suggest to uninstall the codecs pack you installer (ACE / K-Lite / etc) and reinstall the latest version of K-Lite codecs (my personal recommendation; still, I go with KMPlayer and need no codecs installed).

If none of the above codec-less players work then you have an overlay problem (while playing a video the player defines a color that will be used by the player itself as the canvas for drawing the movie directly). TRY REINSTALLING YOUR VIDEO CARD DRIVER, this might help if nothing from above works.

img_130.jpg

K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video formats. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play all the popular audio and video formats and even some rare formats. The K-Lite Codec Pack always very up-to-date with the newest (and/or best) versions of the components. The installation is fully customizable, meaning that you are able install exactly those components that you really want. Uninstallation removes all files and registry entries created by the pack. It is extremely easy to make a fully customized unattended installation. It tries to avoid potential problems with existing codecs and even fixes some problems. The pack is able to detect broken codecs and filters on your system, and remove them for you. It is a very complete package, containing everything you need to play your movies. Suitable for both novice and expert users. The K-Lite Codec Pack works on Windows 2000/XP/2003/XP64/Vista.
