Philips 60" rear projection needs warm up time

Phillps Magnavox 60" rear projection Tv about 9 years old. When turning on picture gets very small and washed out then looks good then back to small and washed out. After several minutes picture is ok..
trying to decide if a repair makes sense or is it time to buy a new LCD. This TV was not used a lot over the 9 years we have owned it.
Thank you !

Sounds like your regulator ic is about to go, not an expensive repair but you have a good thought about buying a new set. If your fluid has never been changed I bet it's due also. Give the choice serious thought.

Probably a voltage regulator problem. It's not something you can fix yourself unfortunately

A 10 year old Rear Projection tv is usually at the end of its life. No such thing as "fluid". Best advice, get a new TV.

What are they talking about when they say you need to change the fuild in your tv. I have 60" philips magnvox that is about 10 years old

The projection TV sets have a coolant that surrounds the CRT picture tubes. It is used to keep them cool when they are lit up. After 5 or so years the fluid gets cloudy and needs to be drained and replaced. If you do it correcly your set will have the best picture you have seen in a long time. Check with the site www.TvRepairKits.com for the fluid and a photo instruction guide.

It could be the flyback losing resistace in its windings. What is the chassis number I should have the service manual for it. Phillips/magnavox is hard to cross reference without the actual chassis number.
