Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)

1 Answer

Connected with limited access

I have a Belkin FSD7230-4 router , which I have recently transferred to a new computer running Windows XP; I had previously been using it with Vista. The connection dialogue box gives me a message saying 'Connected with limited access' and when I try to use Internet Explorer, I get the 'Page is not available' message.

This actually sounds like the device is not getting proper DHCP settings.

First of all, power cycle the router, and reboot the computer to make sure a fresh connection from both devices is achieved.

If the issue persists, check to make sure the computer does not have any static IP settings stored in the adapter.

The following steps will tell you how to do so:
-Start
-Control Panel
-In Classic View, select network connections
or
-In Category View, select Network and Internet connections, then select network connections
- Right click the appropiate network adapter (Local Area Connection, for cabled connections, wireless for wireless connections)
- Select Properties
- in the "This connection uses the following items:" Box select the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" (making sure to keep the checkbox selected (selecting the name helps) then click properties.
- If obtain an IP address automatically is selected (and the boxes below are grey), and Obtain DNS Server address automatically (again grey boxes below) are selected then something else may be happening, which will require more advanced steps.

If the boxes are not grey, then you may have incorrect settings, select the appropriate radio boxes (listed above) to make the boxes greyed out, and that may resolve your issue.

Make sure you entered the same key exactly the same way in both the router and the computer. Also, make sure you have selected a Security protocol that is supported by the computer. Some versions of Windows do not support WPA. XP supports it but really doesn't like to auto detect it. If it's a HP laptop make sure you are using a communications channel other than 6. Some routers give you an option to select the channel HP computers don't like working with channel 6.

We recently bought a new windows 7 pc and now my belkin router has the lock light on, it didn't used to have this and the internet for my laptop worked great, now it has this light and i can't connect to...

Because of you getting a new computer, you need to reaccess your router's administrative options to make sure that it pulls the correct IP address and all your computers that are connected use the correct password encryption. For details follow the instructions below:

My g wireless Belkin USB Network adapter doesn't seem to be funcionig. I cannot access Internet Explorer. I have HP PC with Windows XP. I',m using Sprint WiFi.

Is your router connected to your Broadband modem (cable or DSL) into its broadband port? The router must be first connected wired to set it up for wireless access. Use your browser to access http://192.168.1.1 and log in with login info from the manual. Once you get in, set the Network Name (SSID) then the wireless security. I prefer WPA-PSK[TKIP] for its simplicity. You will need the passcode you set here to log in with your wireless computers.

Router will not return ip address - limited or no connectivity

Try again with static ip.
Then if it is connected then you have restart the DND service of winxp.
For that go to start ->run
type in run "services.msc"
then check in right pane you find DNd client.
Right click on it then stop then again restart it.
Then check .
If still face same problem then go to another pc where internet works fine.
Access your router with following link.
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1
For belkin router
http://192.168.15.1

type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then go to DHCP then enable DHCP then save setting and restarrt router.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Problem with connection to router and DSL

I would go to run and type in cmd. then type in ipconfig, I believe that is right for windows 98. I would look on there and see if that is getting a correct IP and if the DNS server says 192.168.0.1 if it is a belkin router. ipconfig /? will give you the commands you can use with that. There is a ipconfig /renew that will refresh them all. You might have it set to be a static IP and you would want it to be dynamic and have it refresh by itself. You can go to http://hippo.colorado.edu/info/ipsetup/staticip_setup.cgi?os=win98 for directions to change it to dynamic, I would just do the opposite of what they suggest to make it auto config. It sounds like it is looking for a previous DNS server which is not there anymore because the DSL connection reset.

Do you have DHCP enabled on your PC? Sounds like you are not getting the IP address.
