How do I turn down the hearing volume on this phone?

It was very simple for me. Here is what I did:
1. I did a google search for Uniden DECT 6.0 manual
2. I downloaded the manual and searched for the word Volume
3. I looked at the table of contents - and lo and behold the was an entry for Adjusting the Earpiece Volume on page 36.

So you will not have to repeat the simple steps, here is your answer:

Adjusting the Earpiece Volume You can choose from six volume levels for the handset earpiece. To adjust the earpiece volume while on a call, press the up arrow (to make it louder) or the down arrow (to make it softer). The handset display shows the current volume level for the earpiece.

MY POWER MAX 5.8 SAYS THAT MY VOLUME IS OFF ON ONE HAND SET--HOW DO I TURN IT ON? THANKS EILEEN CARTER beileenc@bellsouth.net

There are different ways to adjust the ringer and speaker volume on your handset. Please see your owners manual for model specific instructions.
On most single handset units:
Ringer volume: Press the volume up or down arrow rapidly to change the ringer volume.
Speaker volume: When talking on the handset press the volume up and down arrow to increase or decrease the volume.
On other models:
Ringer volume
In standby mode, press the volume up key or volume
down key on the handset or base to select one of three
ringer volume (Off, Low, or High).

Earpiece and Speaker Volume
You can select from among of six volume levels on the
handset, and ten levels on the base. Pressing the
volume up key or volume down key on the handset or
base during a call will change the earpiece or speaker
volume. This setting will remain in effect after the
telephone call has ended.
If you press the volume up key when the earpiece is at
the maximum volume level, an error tone sounds.
The error tone also sounds if you press the volume down key at the lowest volume.

Please advise as to how to increase the VOLUME on my DECT 6.0 phone.

To adjust the ringer volume:
  1. With the phone in standby, press ^ or v. The display shows the current volume level and the handset sounds the ringer at that level.
  2. Use ^ to make the ringer volume louder or use v to make it softer or turn it off completely.
  3. When you hear the ringer volume level you want to use, stop pressing keys. The handset will use the new ringer volume starting with the next incoming call.
Note: If you set the ringer volume to Off, the handset won't ring. If you have any accessory handsets, other handsets will ring according to their individual settings.

To adjust the earpiece volume:

You can choose from six volume levels for the handset earpiece. To adjust the earpiece volume while on a call, press ^ to make it louder or v to make it softer. The handset display shows the current volume level for the earpiece.

To adjust the speaker volume:

You can choose from six volume levels for the handset speaker while on a speakerphone call. To adjust the handset speaker volume, press ^ to make it louder or v to make it softer. The handset display shows the current volume level for the handset speaker.

Note: The handset earpiece and the handset speaker have separate volume settings.

WHEN I GET THE DIAL TONE IT IS REAL LOW AND I CAN NOT HEAR THE OTHER PERSON I AM TALKINT TO VERY WELL

Possible fault in the earpiece speakeror a fault in the op amp circuit for amplification of the audio signals.
Open the phone and replace the earpiece with another one. You can use a similar high sensitivity type to get the best volume. If this worrks replace. If not then it is possible that the amplificatiion of the earpiecce is not good enough. Try to check on the bias levels, or change the small voltage amplifier of the earpiece.

What do you recommend to stop phone echoing? I own an AT&T Dect 6.0 cordless. It echos no matter where you are in the house.

Echo is usually caused by the mouthpiece picking up sound from an overly loud earpiece.

if there is a way of turning the volume down try that, if not the only other possible thing to try would be to dampen the volume from the earpiece using a small piece of tape or similar.

Earpiece volume

There should be a button on the bottom right of the phone. It is circle with an arrow pointing up, down, left and right. try pushing up and see if that helps - in the manual it says that should change the volume.
