Question about Curtis LCDVD151A 15 in. HDTV LCD TV TV/DVD Combo

1 Answer

Curtis LCDVD191 suddenlywent dead. No signal. Power source okay.

I checked the power source. It was working for the lamp and was not over loaded. Tried a different plug anyway. No solution. It had been working fine and then just suddenly switched off. I have only had it for 24 hours. Should I take it back?

Update to my previous post above. Replaced the other 1000uf capacitor @ 25v and a 220uf@25v also in the output side of the power supply board, this brought back the video and unit works okay. Still have to get the dvd player working when time permits..

Hey there. Were you able to get your DVD working after fixing the Power Supply. I had the same problem just a few days ago, replaced the caps, but no DVD.

Power board signal

Hi Jim, I hope you have done the right in put "SOURCE" setting. Like AV, PC, HDMI etc. The source setting must match the signal you are feeding to your TV. If not the TV will show no signal. I hope there should be nothing wrong with your TV. Good Luck.

47LG50 won't turn on, no standby light at all. DEAD! tried different power sources, but nothing. was on, made a "bzzzddd" noise then turned off. Serious or just a fuse?

you can remove the fuse and check them with a multimeter. put a lead on each end If the meter shows a low number (normally less than 1), then the fuse should be okay. if not than you need a new power supply board. be sure at all times to have tv un pluged while working on them and always be very cautious as the do still hold power. hope this helps

My Curtis ledvd1975a-2 flashes the light on it's

Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like, to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
I hope this will help to solve the problem.....

Panasonic PTL500 LCD HIDEF projector - Unit occasionally powered up briefly, lamp lit, then shut down, standby LED flashed orange/red. Sometimes lamp lit and sometimes not. Technician diagnosed bad ballast...

The bulb is a discharge type - it needs a very high tension to work. The role of the ballast board is to convert the low voltage DC current coming from the power source in a high tension DC current for the bulb. Unfortunately you were truly unlucky : when the ballast board died it sent a high tension surge thru the power source and from there at the other components on the mainboard - the processor couldn't handle it and got fried. So now when you try to start the projector this is what happens: the power source starts normally - the status light goes to green as it should; it functions normally so it powers the ballast board and the rest of the mainboard - the ballast works so the bulb lights up; the mainboard on the other hand remains dead because the processor is dead so no sustain signal is sent to the power source; without the sustain signal the power source goes, as it should , in an very normal stand-by - the status light goes to red.
The entire mainboard will have to be replaced - you can't replace just the processor, it's glued in there. This is going to be expensive so ask a quote before doing it.

Does not power on

All you have to do is to first check the power cable and the power source socket to check if they are okay, if they are okay , you then open up the back cover of the television and check for blown fuses, most times they comes in small size for HDTV TELEVISION, but if otherwise the power supply board is dead.Tries Websites, to buy a reburbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hope this helpout.....

The tv isnt turning on at all what is the problem

Targa 32" LCT TV, No picture/ sound only can hear clicking sound from Kisan KP-301R Power supply board. Have checked output voltages and they are a little out i.e. 16v instead of 17.5v and 10.5v instead of 12v.

Has SAMWHA capacitors but cannot see any bulging or leakage anywhere like other users have suffered so dont know if changing all the caps will solve the issue.

Before it finally went dead LCD TV would switch itself off after some time and just a few days before it dies it started the clicking sound but would then start up okay.

Red pixels

They are are called dead pixels. A TFT monitor is built of millions of tiny lamps(LEDs) in matrixes of the tree colors, Red, Green and Blue, these have like any other electronics component a limited life span. When dead, sometimes they stop reacting to the color changing control signal and keep emitting only one color often red(IMO because the other two components are more stressed by the higher frequency). Unfortunately this phenomenon is irrepairable. :(

TV is not coming on

If I understand your problem correctly, it sounds like the unit is not coming on... If this is correct, then replace the 3 capacitors on the output side of the power supply. There are 2@1000uF @25V and 1 smaller one which is 220uF@25V.
I think the part number on the board is marked as WX-15/19/20Power-01...
This worked on a 19 curtis LCDVD191
Hope this helps...

Panasonic th-42px60u plasma tv not turning on

Power LED on front panel blinks several times, there is a delay, then repeats. After fiddling and fuming (mostly fuming) I found that changing the input signal source allowed the TV to be turned on. When I changed the input signal source back everything was ok.

In other words...

My TV is connected to my PC's video card via an HDMI connector. My card has 2 HDMI connectors. I moved the connector (the part that comes from my computer) from one HDMI out to the other. The screen powered up. When I changed the connector back to the original HDMI out I got my display back.

So yeah, try changing your input signal source. If you're using cable try switching to your Xbox/PS3/whatever, or vice versa. If you only have one possible signal source then I have no clue.

It's almost like the TV doesn't get any signal from the current cable then goes into sleep mode until it gets another signal. My problem had to do with me changing a bunch of sleep/timeout/screensaver settings on my TV/comp.

Hope this helps someone.
