Always install the software first before connecting the printer. Then connect the printer, and power it on. If you had the printer connected beforehand, try to remove drivers and start from the beginning.
Try to get your printer driver from internet,usually im using this site http://www.printcountry.com but there you have to register unfortunately.But it helps me always,just install the driver and then reboot your computer.It should help to solve the problem

Go to control panel from start menu,then click icon "add hardware". Follow the instructions, click yes when asked about device is connected,then choose something like"human interface device", keep following the procedure until you find the hardware that match with windows.
Use another Bootable Disk Operating System to see it as may be the same problem you have. I think it's your Installer Disk have a problem. From this problem it's windows system failure to show display appearance normally. At least you try just one installing another Bootable Disk. Good luck!
