Question about Heating & Cooling

Lg minisplit heat pump will not heat

I purchased an lg minisplit heat pump system over the summer and installed it in August and it cooled great. When it was put into the heat mode, it was blowing cold air. I found the reversing valve not energizing. I replaced the board on the outdoor unit. Now when the system is put into the heat mode, you can hear the reversing valve energize but nothing else happens except the indoor blower comes on and runs for about 10 seconds. I cannot find any technical manuals or any place to get help.

You may want to check that the pressure switch is not functioning? Secondly there is also a thermo sensor on the condenser coil which could be faulty.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have a older Carrier heat pump, model 38YKC060. Does anyone know how cold it will continue to work at?

Heat pumps are of little or no value at temps around 40 degrees or below. And if you use the strips it will cost a small fortune if you have relatively high electric rates as most folks do.

We have royal red furnace to heat our home. The fan dose not stop.

Details.......does the furnace function normally otherwise? Might just be a stuck fan switch. Make sure the thermostat hasn't been set on Fan ON setting or summer air circ. on older furnaces.
Find the fan switch and tap it and see if fan quits. If it does, fan switch is bad.probably. Always make sure your air circ. filter(return air to furnace) is replaced every 3 mo. or so,too. don-ohio (:^)

My thermostat is set on 68 degrees and it shows room temperature is 68, but the furnace still kickson, Honeywell said it has a 1 degree difference. so what's the problem then?

Yes there is a one degree tolerance, in fact my heater just kicked on and it is set to 67 and the inside temperature reads 67. It is also a Honeywell.

Cooloing is not coming down from room temperature

The unit needs service. Call a technician! You can:
Check your air filters
Clean outdoor coil by turning off all power at breakers and tstat, clean o.d. coil with water hose
Inspect indoor coil (if you can) for build up or debris
Other than that? May be low on freon. A service tech will cost $ BUT not having the unit service will cost more due to electrical consumption and excessive run times shortening the life of the system.

Water leaking out the front of inside unit

It may be tipped too far forward or the drain port is plugged and not allowing the condensation to drain properly.
