Techguru2009: The startup fails to load because you have too many programs trying to start at the same time when you log on. To fix this problem you are going to sacrifice what programs you want to start up when you log on. first I asume you are using windows operating system. click the start button, click on run, type msconfig, press enter. Click on Startup tab. Uncheck the box for programs you do not want to start when you log on. Careful not to disable windows startup programs. Hope this helps.

This will start the computer in Safe Mode.

SYSTEM HANGS DURING REBOOT

Hi jameelafghan.

Remove the RAM/Memory from *********** board, and re-insert it.

Sometimes miss-alignment or dust on contact points can lead to dead spots on Memory, and the computer will hang.

An easy fix. Try it!

Kind Regards

Lines at the top off the screen. I have an old HP t360a desktop system that has a HP m703 crt attached to it. The only thing I've had to replace on the old beast is HDD & some ram but otherwise it's...

The system you are using is kinda old and I would imagine that your drivers are out of date. The best driver I can find for you is here;
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_93.71_2.html
If you can live with lines sometimes thats not too bad but, you may want to upgarde to a garphics card, AMD/ATI Radeon will give you graphics and sound and, may be the best way to prolong the life of your current system.

Computer Power comes on, shows compaq first screen, then everything stops. press esc, F10 or F12 and nothing happens. just continues to show the compaq screen. Any suggestions?

Try unplugging everything you can from the computer. Only leave keyboard, monitor, and power cables connected. Then try to turn on again. If computer boots now, then start adding peripherals back one at a time, rebooting each time. when you get the hang, there is your suspect peripheral.

Also, is the monitor itself having issues, or is it the computer? Look at the power light on the monitor, is it staying green, or is turning back to same color when it is in standby state?

Factory settings without the cd rom disk

Default behavior of Windows XP is that it automatically logs in if there is only one user account in the system and is not password protected.

Here is a way to make XP automatically login to a user account.
  • Click Start, Run and type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
  • Uncheck Users must enter a username and password to use this computer
  • Click Apply.
  • Now, fill-up your user information and password there.
By default, it shows Administrator. You need to input your username and password.

Delete any account you don't need

My hp lap top keeps going into option safe mode then shows me the first screen windows xp then goes back to option safe mode and other options

Hi,

It is possible that your system boot was setup to safe mode everytime it boots up. You may try the steps below.

1. Boot your system to safe mode.

2. Go to Start then Run

3. On the run box type msconfig

4. Look for the tab boot.ini , under this tab uncheck the box that says safeboot then click apply

5. Restart the computer.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

Lost log in password for travelmate 3230

if winxp home
1. restart
2. press f8 to go into advance start up options
3. select "safe mode", then press enter
4. log on as the administrator (you better remember the password for this one if any... generic installations may not have a password for this account)
5. try to change the password (I'm not sure if you can but you can try) if your system has the ntfs file system you may have to create an administrator priviledged user and have that user taking ownership of the files you can't access as an administrator... ... if you have fat32 file system. you can just go right into your files..)

if winxp pro
1. you can just at the log on screen press ctlr+alt+del combination twice
2. type "Administrator" (and password if provided at time of windows installation)
3. start > right click on my computer> manage computer > users and groups > look for user name (your own) and right click>all tasks>set password (this will reset allow you to reset the password.)
4. read the desclaimer first then go for it.
