Hello,
I have a Denon DVD-1500 DVD player and a Denon AVR-1802 receiver.
They are digital connected with coax.
On my DVD player I have set my audio output format to DIG/RAW
(bitstream).
I can play all the DVD's I have perfect with Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS!
Only...the DVD Pearl Harbor (with Dolby Digital 5.1) stays silent with
the output format set to DIG/RAW (bitstream).
I have to set the output format to DIG/PCM to hear the sound!!!
But with DIG/PCM I cannot hear the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
I tried a DVD of a friend, but it had the same problem!
I only have this problem with Pearl Harbor.
Does anyone else have the same problem??
Is it the disc or is it the Denon DVD1500??
Regards,
Rob.

The problem is not the DVD player but the Denon 1602 & 1802 receiver and
some Onkyo models!!
Only (at the moment) Pearl Harbor and Jurassic Park III have this problem.
According to Dolby it is not sure if it is the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on
the two DVD's which isn't comaptible or the receivers.
Regards,
ERASER!

I have a Marantz DV4100OSE DVD player connected via coax to a Denon
AVR1802 Receiver. My setup will play all other DVD's without any problem and
will play the analog 'Pearl Harbour' soundtrack OK, but in Dolby 5.1 -
NOTHING
Having a different DVD player suggests that your Denon player is not the
culprit, so I am beginning to suspect the Disc.
