When I am typing, no matter what program or email I am using my cursor will constantly move backwards and I end up typing over what I have already typed. It's happened 6 times trying to type this. This is MADDENING! Can you please tell me why this is happening? Thank you so much.
Touchpad Sensitivity - Toshiba Satellite M55-S329: My cursor has recently begun to jump around like crazy when I type. I believe it's because my hands are brushing over the touchpad, which is overly sensitive. There is nowhere in Control Panel for me to adjust the sensitivity on my touchpad, just to enable or disable it. I downloaded the ALPS Touchpad Driver as per Babbs suggestion on this website. Now what? Where does that driver live? Or how do I access it? Any other ideas?

Re: Typing problem with keyboard
The easy method would be to hook up a USB mouse and disable the touchpad to see if that works. Control Panel -> Mouse (or Printers and other Hardware), then click on the mouse and then click on Advanced or Hardware tab to look at the options. You might be able to have it disable the touchpad when a mouse is present.

What's happening is that your finger(s) are touching/dragging across the laptop's TouchPad while you're typing, and thus the cursor's position in the document is being randomly reset/repositioned while you're typing. Solution: disable your Laptop's TouchPad, and use a mouse for cursor control. Solution: tape a 3x5 index card over the Touchpad while you're typing. Solution: type on a computer with a real keyboard, not the chiclet-type keyboard you (and I) are using.
Hi, your first problem (and possibly second problem) sounds like it's the "Insert" function on your keyboard. I've seen this a lot. Find the Insert key on your keyboard. It's normally off to the right side with the Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys. When you have the problem, press the Insert key and then keep typing. It should toggle between the cursor moving with typing, and not. If this was helpful, please rate my response. Thanks!
I have found this is usually the small button in the middle of the keyboard (mouse button) I have tried some software to remove this problem but it did not on my laptop I ended up carefully removing the key board and disconnecting the two wires that go to the button My cursors kept moving across the screen
Here a suggestion, it may or may not be the problem! Sometimes the sensitivity of the touchpad might be too low and your hands inadvertently move the cursor.
Also the touchpad has a builtin feature that prevents accidental contact(palm check)
You can lower the sensitivity by going into control panel and open Mouse! Go to Device Settings and with the touchpad selected click on settings. There you'll see sensitivity and you can adjust the settings.
You can also modify the palm check features right there!
if you have any complications or if that's not it, kindly let me know!
