HP Expansion Base - Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Set-Up

I purchased my hp expansion base on ebay, and I have never used the keyboard and mouse. Now I have a new lcd tv and want to use this system, but I don't know how to get the mouse and keyboard to work. Is there a part that I may not have received? (the unit was used when I ipurchased it)Thank you

I do not have the receiver with a usb connector on it, unless you are referring to the usb connector that is part of the expansion base itself.

Thank you jrbay. I think I may have that part somewhere, but when I opened the box I couldn't figure out what the one separate part was. I don't recall that it had a usb connector on it. I wonder if there is somewhere that I could take a look at one, or if you know where I may purchase a replacement.

There should be a small module with a wire attached to it (separate from the base unless it is already plugged into a USB port and dangling off to the side somewhere) that has a "connect" button on it somewhere. That is the receiver that communicates with the mouse and keyboard. If it is missing then I think we have found your problem.

There should be a keyboard (no wire), a mouse (no wire) and a receiver with a USB connector on it. Are these the three parts that you have?

Any Radio Shack or Best Buy for sure and even Staples and the like will have wireless devices that should help you figure out how to hook up what you have. For that matter a new set might be so inexpensive as to save you the hassle.

Good luck,

Just purchased a , HP xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base cant get the component output to work with my TV, how can I get it to work to expand my monitor? thanks

Hi orlandobusa1,

If assuming your connection is via VGA cable, because that's the only way I can see for you to get external video, connection should be a VGA cable from the docking station to the TV. Once you have cables plugged in, all you need to do is to set external display from your video card control panel.

Most computers have a video card control panel, please follow instructions below for the settings:

1. Right click on your desktop and choose graphics control panel
2. Once windows is open, look for multiple display settings, and there you will see if the TV is detected or not
3. then you should see a setting there, to either, extended or clone your display.

Solution provided are basic for setting up external display, however, my solution would not be applicable if the cables or ports used are different.

Hope this works!

Thank you for using Fixya,

Is it safe to hot undock HP 2730p from ultra-slim expansion base 2700? Product documentation doesn't indicate a problem with doing this, but it still sort of freaks me out? Any advice?

Even if the documentation does not say anything against, you should not take the chance. It is electronics after all. Always shutdown and then undock.

Dear conniejo10,
Since your expansion base setup sucesfuly, all you have to do is try to reconfigure your display properties, this is HOW:

Right Click On your Desktop>Choose PROPERTIES on contect menu>

the DISPLAY PROPERTIES Dialog Box now OPEN

Choose The SETTING tabs, Choose your additional Screen to come on, (it should be position on the '2' Screen when you click on it, the you adjust the resolution by sliding the display control or try to click the ADVANCE/SETTING buton the choose the ADAPTER tabs, the click the LIST ALL MODE button the you choose which resolution that fit your need and match the color mode (better to set to TRUE COLOR).
Then You just hit the apply button. Some hardware need to reboot but some don't.

You should see the two display are now come on at the same time as if you plug the AV out cable in on you expantion base or your Note book.

Good Luck!

Best Regards,
