When the computer boots up press F8 or F10 before you see the windows loading screen and start the computer in safe mode. Then i would run an anti-virus program to try to clean up whatever is doing this to your computer

Unplug both the KB and the Mouse. Look at the pins inside at the end of the cord to make sure they are not bent. If they are, straighten them and try again. If NOT, try using a USB keyboard and Mouse. If that works, the PS2 connections on the MoBo are bad.

Ive just reinstalled windows xp and the keyboard and mouse are not responding so i cant access desktpo at all

Hi.

If both the keyboard and mouse are USB connections then you will have to wait a couple of minutes for the operating system to install the drivers for them, just keep on wiggling the mouse until the cursor moves.

If that does not work please post back.

Regards.

Am using Win XP When I turn the pc on with recovery disk inserted the Press Any Key to boot from cd" screen comes up but pressing any key does not get a response then it continues on to the sign in...

OK! Lets troubleshoot this together.

First thing we want to do is verify that your keyboard & mouse and plugged into the correct places and are powered up and able to work.

Turn your computer on and look at your keyboard and tell me if any lights are on to show that it has power and is operational.

Watch the keyboard lights until the computer gets to the login page and tell me if the lights come on and stay on? Or do the lights turn on for a moment and then turn off again?

If you do not see any lights, please clarify if there are NO LIGHTS on your style of keyboard or if there are lights but they are not lighting up.

If your keyboard has lights and they are not lighting up at all, then turn off the computer and unplug the mouse and keyboard and swap them around. Then turn the computer on again and tell me if the lights come on and the mouse and keyboard become operational.

Once we verify this we can continue to the next step of troubleshooting. Please report what you find and I will help you solve this.

MY SCREEN IS MOVED OVER TO THE LEFT ABOUT INCHES HOW DO U PUT IT BACK I CANT SEE MY INTERNET OR ANYTHING ITS OVER TO FAR

Use the on-screen display OSD buttons on the monitor.

They will allow you to re-size and re-position the screen as you wish

Each function has a different icon that you select using the buttons on your monitor not the keyboard or mouse.

Keyboard/floppy diskette error

try to unplug the power chord from the tower, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. now try to turn the system on. still if u have the keyboard error try to reset the keyboard . still if have the same error get into the bios and load the bios default. For the floppy diskette drive seek failure, u have to get into the bios to disable the floppy diskette drive.

No boot no keyboard or mouse

First disconnect all external connections except video, see if system will boot normally (press the power button once on tower to shutdown)

If that works, then connect the keyboard only to the back USB port nearest the NIC. See if the keyboard works. If it does, shutdown and connect the mouse and try again. If it doesn't, try the mouse only. If you localize the problem to either the mouse or keyboard, replace that item.

If neither works, then reset the motherboard junper to reset BIOS defaults. the again, try them one at a time. If they still do not work, then you will need a mothebroard.

Can't access desktop, windows won't load so pc won't shut down

Hold th epower button down on your tower for about 5-10 seconds and it should shut off. Then you can turn it back on. If that doesnt shut it down you can always pull the power cord.

HELLO

is your mouse and keyboard plugged into a PS2 connector http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ps-2-ports.jpg
look inside of your case and see if any capacitors are buldging on your motherboard the tops of the capacitors should be level/flat if they're ok, sounds like they are going, look for brown rusty color also around tops of capacitors, might be your outputs are going. If you have your mouse and keyboard plugged into ps2 ports try a USB Mouse and keyboard, borrow one first or buy a usb laser mouse for $12 worth a try even if your ps2 ports are blown, use the usb ports for mouse/keys ;)
