Nintendo DS Lite - Not charging

I purchased a DS Lite in the US on holiday. I am now having problems charging it. I have used both the US charger and an adaptor and a UK charger from another DS Lite - nothing - no lights and no charge. I have also swopped batteries between the UK and the US consoles and again - nothing. What can be done to enable the US console to be charged in the UK. Gerry I'm traveling in India and I have tried two Nintendo DS's and neither work with their chargers from the US. I can still turn it on, although the red light comes on showing it needs to be charged, but when I plug the charger in, it does not show the orange light. Is the fix for the fuse in the DS or the charger? How do you open it or does it go to a repair shop? It's strange that both don't work so I can't figure it out.

It will need to go to a repair shop....the ds lite is very sensitive to the current you use and you may have something shorted out on one or both of them...take themin and have them looked at

i do not think it is your chargers that are the problem but the power supply in india is not right for the adapter. different A and V outputs. you would need to find the outputs for the country you are in and use an adapter suitable.

Hi my nintendo ds lite wn't turn. do i require to charage my ds,or no?

A Nintendo DS console will indeed need charging. If your light appears as red, yes, you will need to purchase a Nintendo DS charger. All and every kinds of Nintendo DS's require charging. Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL, and Nintendo 3DS. You will have to insert the wall outlet side of the plug into the wall, and the other smaller side into the DS, DSi, or 3DS.

US Nintendo DS-Lite with converter problems in South Africa

Hi,

It should work straight out with a step down transformer. That is of course if the mains supply in South Africa is 240 240 and the unit being American is 110.

This is of course not unless it was initially tried without a transformer or stepdown converter which would mean that the charger/adapter has been fried and therefore damaged.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

You're Nintendo DS Lite might need to be charged. If you do not have a charger, you will have to go to a local game store and purchase one.

Hi my nintendo ds lite battery is dead and my charger is lost is there any other way to charge it without a charger?

You can try charging your DS lite using a phone charger. In order for this to work the charger must
  • Output around 5.2 volts
  • The end of the plug must look like the second plug from the left in this picture
When plugging this cord into your DS lite do NOT force it in. If you push to hard it may break the DS lite.

Nintendo DS will NOT charge

My guess is that the problem resides in the charger. You can buy a dual use charger for the DS and DS Lite at GameStop for relatively cheap.

Ds lite ac wall charger

When you first get the DS it will have a bit if charge on it but only a few hours worth. When the DS charges it usally comes up with a orange/red ish light then that goes out about a few hours later when its charged. ad if you want to chek if it is charging correcly turn the DS on whilst it is charging and the little battery simble in the top right corner should show the battery carging.

Nintendo DS Lite - Not charging

sounds like you've blown a fuse inside the ds itself. Check on the underside of your console and check if it says "5.2v in" adjacent to your charger port if it does then the uk charger is safe to use. But the fact remains you may of blown a fuse. There are two fuses in the ds and are very small they can be repaired easily if you have any soldering skills.
