Question about Dell Inspiron 1150 Notebook

1 Answer

Dell laptop won't boot even after clean install of xp

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop. For some reason, my computer crashed and Windows XP would not load. Well I reinstalled Windows XP and had some problems with a few drivers not being installed correctly, for example the display would not change from the 16 bit (not sure exactly all the right names for everything!! ) And I discovered there were several things that did not load correctly.

So I deleted any partitions and just started fresh, I did the non quick format thing, which seriously took forever! This morning, when I got out of bed, the laptop was already installing windows again (yay, I thought!) Well, it finally showed that it was complete, and I was all excited, but then it got hung up on a blue screen (after the windows is loading type stuff showed). There was a large arrow that I could move with my mouse, but nothing happened. It was stuck there for about an hour.

I finally just shut the computer down, and restarted it, but after the Dell screen came up, it was just black. No windows nothing....

So I put the Windows XP disk back in, and did the repair option rather than re install. It went through this little process of checking something, went to a black screen with a white line in the bottom that was like a progress type line where it was dashes, it's hard to explain.

Then it showed the Windows XP thing again, like it does before windows opens, but then it goes to a blue screen (like the DOS blue, the other blue that I wrote about above was a lighter blue) and it says :

STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image olethk32.dll is possibly corrupt. The header chechsum does not match t (then my screen cuts it off)
he computer checksum.

If anyone can please tell me what is wrong, or advice me what I need to do??? I don't want to take it in anywhere because it's older and would probably cost more to fix!!

Thanks in advance!

Your windows prolly crashed because your hard drive is going bad, and thats why your getting error messages when reinstalling.

Download SiSoft Sandra. It will tell you exactly what you have and also test every component. The best program by far and has been since Windows 98.

Will not start up

hi , Reuben

I would suggest you try safe mode.
Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words "Safe Mode" appear in the corners of the display to identify which Windows mode you are using. If an existing problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes.
If you don't know the cause of the problem, you can use the process of elimination to help you find the problem. Try starting all of the programs you commonly use, including the programs in your Startup folder, one by one, to see if a program might be the cause of the problem.
Follow the steps to boot the computer in safe mode with networking:
1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
2. Tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
5. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
6. You should see drivers loading, and then please wait.
7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.
8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

Are 2002 Aztec computers compatible

I am assuming you are discussing the 2002 Pontiac Aztec, the early crossover with the rather distinctive look. I would assume that since they were made by the same manufacturer and they used the same parts that their computers should be compatible. I can't say so for certain as you haven't provided much information, but, unless one of the Aztec owner swapped out the original computer and replaced it with an updated device, the computers should be compatible.

If you are thinking of trying to swap computer chips, I would advise you to wait and let a professional do it at an independent shop. The reason I suggest this is simple, unless you know how to access the computer chip correctly, you risk accidentally ruining it. If you handle the replacement chip incorrectly it is entirely possible that for a stray static charge to ruin the chip by blowing out a trace. Also, if you damaged the socket from which the original chip was removed then it is possible that you will not be able to reinsert the new device without bending any leads on the bottom. If the leads are damaged, then the new computer won't work.

Even if the new computer chip and the original chip were already installed in installable cases (the way most desktop computer chips are installed), it is possible that when you removed the computer, you might have damaged the receiving socket which means that when you go to insert the new computer carrier it won't work correctly because a few or many of the pins on the bottom of the board won't sit correctly.

What is the difference between windows 7 editions: starter, home basics, home premium, ultimate, professional, interprice?what is the difference between service pack 1 & 2???pc

Since October 31, 2013, Windows 7 is no longer available in retail (except for the Professional edition preinstalled):[6]
Windows 7 Starter Windows 7 Starter is the edition of Windows 7 that contains the fewest features. It is only available in a 32-bit version and does not include the Windows Aero theme. The desktop wallpaper and visual styles (Windows 7 Basic) are not user-changeable. Microsoft originally intended to restrict users of this edition to running three simultaneous applications but this limitation was dropped.[7]This edition was available pre-installed on computers, especially netbooks, through system integrators or computer manufacturers using OEM licenses.[1][8][9] Windows 7 Home Basic Windows 7 Home Basic was available in "emerging markets", in 141 different countries.[10] Some Windows Aero options are excluded along with several new features.[1] Home Basic, along with other editions sold in emerging markets, include geographical activation restriction, which requires users to activate Windows within a certain region or country.[11] Windows 7 Home Premium This edition contains features aimed at the home market segment, such as Windows Media Center, Windows Aero and multi-touch support.[12] Windows 7 Professional This edition is targeted towards enthusiasts and small-business users.[1] It includes all the features of Windows 7 Home Premium, and adds the ability to participate in a Windows Server domain.[1] Additional features include support for up to 192 GB of Random-access memory (increased from 16 GB),[13] operating as a Remote Desktop server, location aware printing, backup to a network location, Encrypting File System, Presentation Mode, Software Restriction Policies (but not the extra management features of AppLocker) and Windows XP Mode.[1] Windows 7 Enterprise This edition targeted the enterprise segment of the market and was sold through volume licensing to companies which have a Software Assurance contract with Microsoft.[1] Additional features include support for Multilingual User Interface(MUI) packages, BitLocker Drive Encryption, and UNIX application support.[1] Not available through retail or OEMchannels, this edition is distributed through Microsoft Software Assurance (SA).[1] As a result it includes several SA-only benefits, including a license allowing the operating of diskless nodes (diskless PCs) and activation via VLK.[14] Windows 7 Ultimate Windows 7 Ultimate contains the same features as Windows 7 Enterprise, but unlike the Enterprise edition, it was available to home users on an individual license basis.[1] Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional users are able to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate for a fee using Windows Anytime Upgrade if they wish to do so.[1] Unlike Windows Vista Ultimate, the Windows 7 Ultimate edition does not include the Windows Ultimate Extras feature or any exclusive features as Microsoft had stated.[1] All editions will receive Mainstream Support (new features and bug fixes) until January 2015 and Extended Support (security updates) until January 2020.[15]

How to enable bluetooth

Your computer has to have a bluetooth radio. You can check
Control Panel > System and Security > Device Manager
Do you see a Bluetooth Radio listed?

If not, you don't have BlueTooth on your computer so you will have to add a BlueTooth device by plugging one into a USB port.

If you have a BlueTooth radio, go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device and Printers > Add a Bluetooth Device

This option is used to connect a blue tooth device (e.g. bluetooth headphons) to your laptop through your bluetooth radio.

See this Windows web page for more information.
Set up Bluetooth enabled device

check that all removable media is removed from computer, flash drives etc,if this message still appears the reinstall your os, there are several reasons for this error. You may have to replace your hard drive if that is the issue- you would know because after reinstall (if it makes it thru it) it will only crash again, this is much too big of a subject to sum it all up here and now, good luck... more questions just ask

Freezes on the warm boot screen MC9000

This can be for a number of reasons.

First thing would be to try and cold boot the device:-

Remove battery half way, hold power button and trigger, push battery in fully until click and then release power and trigger

If that fails next thing would be to try and re-flash the operating system. This is done by using an SD card and loading the latest operating files onto it. The SD card slot is located under the keypad. A cross head screwdriver is required to remove the keypad. Search on symbol software download site for the latest. The download also has a readme with detailed instructions. Once the files are on perform a cold boot.

Remove battery half way, hold power button and trigger, push battery in fully until click and then release power and trigger. Drop the terminal in a cradle so that it runs on external power.

Hope this helps.
