Windows XP does not have the SATA driver on the install CD.
You need to download the SATA driver for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB support/download page.
If the laptop has floppy drive, then copy the SATA driver to the floppy and when you boot up with the Windows XP install CD and then press F6 to install the SATA drivers which is on the floppy as instructed..
Its true. the Bios or HDD driver wont allow you to install Win XP on it.. This BIOS is compatible with only Win Vista. The only easy way to do it is by creating 2 partitions while installing vista. once vista is installed- install XP with Dual boot and than format the vista partition.

insert the cd and boot from it then follow the instruction.. Its called downgrading ..
you can eighter boot the system driectly from the cd ( when you turn the computer in it will say to press a certin key to select boot devices e.g F9 ) press it
or
when windows has started just insert the cd and follow the instructions.. Remember to log int the manufactures web page and download the drivers for XP
