Cooler problem

If you have the video card for a while and it was fine before, and its acting up now it may be bad caps, check the card, the motherboard, and the power supply, when you do this disconnect the power, and press the power button and hold it for 5 seconds, wait for two minutes then look around. If the motherboard, and the video-card caps are fine, then open up the power supply, clean it out and look at the caps, if the caps are bad then thats why its overheating. Order the caps from badcaps.net, they also have photos for refrence of what to look for when a cap fails. They also have guides on how to change caps out. If the caps are good, then as you said the cooler might be inadequate and you may just need to find a used cooler instead of a new on ebay or craigslist which are usually half price. Make sure if you do get a cooler to get good thermal paste like artic silver 5 or something.

Vga driver not found

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electric extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket

hope this helps

Install DirectX.

If you already have DirectX 9 installed, grab the missing DLL from here (the newest ones are at the bottom):

Place them in c:\windows\system32

Bought a Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX 256MB Graphics card

errrr.... do you mean the 6 pin pci-e power plug and lead that normally comes off your Power supply?

You can get converters leads that change the pinout of 5.35 HDD power to 6-pin pci-e but this is usually NOT RECOMMENDED for any GTX series of GeForce.

You usually need the dedicated PCI-E RAIL (with its own PCI-E lead/connector... or even better x 2 of them) on your power supply for these builds.

Once again.... i definately do not recommend converting one of your other power outputs to run a GTX. At best it will not work.... at worst (though unlikely) you may end up damaged your shiny new GFX card.

If you do not have a 6 pin PCI-E lead and plug running directly from your power supply to run this card.... you need one. Do you happen to know the model of your current PSU?

That sounds like a windows media filter. There are certian programs that you can download to fix this prob. If that's your card,(and it may be) you can google it and get the drivers for that card.
that'll probly solve it.
