Hi there i have a htc and i have a laptop with no wireless card can i connecy my data cable to my phone to my laptop to gain internet thro my phone as a modem

Yes You can access internet in your laptop with the help of phone using a data cable or a Bluetooth device, you have not mention which model no. is your HTC Phone Device because to connect internet with the help of phone to a laptop your phone must have inbuilt mobile modem, and one more thing i want to add is that you'll be requiring driver and software of your phone while connecting it to your laptop.

Not able to use htc smart f3188 as a modem for laptop which is having windows 7 os.

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

This phone uses Qualcomm's BREW platform (Operating System). As such, this phone cannot be used as a modem to tether a PC to the Internet.

Why can't I find the HTCDriver on my phone, I want to use it as a modem

If you want to connect your laptop to the internet using your HTC Wildfire, one way of doing so is to connect your HTC phone to a mobile network (Globe or SMART here in the philippines), then use it as a Wi-Fi Hotspot (available on the menu, android 2.2.1). Then, check for Wi-Fi connections at your laptop.
P.S. Same phone here, but not yet tried to use it directly as a modem, like I used to in my old N97.
